and preach the great cardinal doc trines of the faith, then something will need to be done. The pastor will have a God-given obligation to warn the people about the inroads of lib eralism, which is simply unbelief. Having warned the people, he should get out of the way, not seeking to create a fight and division as a result of his personality. Q . Renton, Wash. — “Is the King James Bible sufficient?” A. Technically, it is the English trans lation which was authorized by King James I of England. For more than 400 years it has been entirely suffi cient to point untold millions of peo ple to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We use it all the time and would certainly prefer it for pub lic reading and memorization. There are other translations offering help in a clearer understanding of some portions of the Word. There are a number of words which have changed their meaning over these intervening years. One outstanding newer publi cation is the 1901 American Revised Version. This is currently being re-

cumstances should cause you to give the matter careful and prayerful con sideration. Then is there truly an inner conviction which is in keeping with the Word of God? A further thought will be to seek the counsel of Godly ministers, asking them to share their experiences and call to service with you. This is a wonderful step to take, but it cannot be taken lightly! Q . Phoenix, Arix. — “In Matthew 6:19 we are told, ‘Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth.’ Does this mean that we shouldn't save anything?” A. One of the best ways to interpret the Bible is never to read a verse alone. Be sure you have a clear under standing of the entire context. Scrip ture also indicates that a man is to provide for his own household. If he does not, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. This por tion of Scripture is not legislating against saving money for one’s needs. It refers, however, to that selfish hoarding of funds, ruling God out of our thoughts and only occupied with that which is material. Our Saviour is telling us not to make the appro priation of money the center and cir cumference of our life. He it was who also declared, “A man’s life consist- eth not of the abundance of things which he possesseth.” Q . San Francisco, Calif. — “I f a pastor resigns but continues to reside in the city where he has pastored a church, should he attend the congregation he formerly served? Should he seek to influence the course of a new pastor?” A. This situation can result in a very sad and tragic circumstance. No “iron clad” answer can readily be given. Generally, when a pastor resigns, he should leave the church, letting the new pastor and the people work out their own destiny together. The form er pastor certainly should not try to influence anyone, with the possible ex ception of defection from the truth. If the people unthinkingly have called a new pastor who does not stand upon
