Responsible for ensuring suitable and competent resources are provided, making sure each scheme is efficiently de- livered from inception through to post-occupancy evaluation. The Senior Head of Capital Delivery will work with Estates and Facilities colleagues to inform the pro- duction of various Trust specification, guidelines and quality standards, with a pro-active and enthusiastic approach to identify and implement ‘best practice’ principals both internally and externally. A key element of this role will be to support the Deputy Director of Estates (Strategic & Capital) in leading the service modernisation/transformation programmes within estates to create Capital deliv- ery function fit for the future. The post holder will set improvement standards, drive consistency and build financial and commercial management capability within estates services. This will include, proactively working with a range of senior stakeholders/Direc- tors to innovate and expand or rationalise estates services, planning and evaluating new business options, identifying potential new funding streams and income generation to support achievement of the Trusts strategic objectives. The post holder will develop an Annual Estates Plan including agreeing objectives for the year with the Deputy Director of Estates (Strategic & Capital). The post holder will develop and deliver a compre- hensive service improvement agenda and provide a key role in the delivery of wider specific Trust initia- tives, including developing business cases for refram- ing existing FM services, or for the delivery of new or expanded services. The post holder will provide assurance to the Depu- ty Director of Estates (Strategic & Capital) on service improvement, compliance standards, business-con-

tinuity, mandatory and statutory compliance.

JOB PURPOSE To be responsible for the professional and managerial services standards required to develop and maintain the Trust’s estate by conforming to all statutory, NHS, Trust and best practice guidelines in the development and delivery of the Trust’s capital investment pro- grammes. Working closely with the Capital, Estates and Facili- ties Senior Management Team and other Trust Sen- ior Managers, the Senior Head of Capital Delivery will have responsibility for both overseeing and deliver- ing all Capital Projects or programmes of projects, supporting the Deputy Director of Estates Capital & Strategic Development in the provision of lead- ership and management to support the successful delivery of the hospitals physical estate strategy, en- suring that Estates service strategies and plans are in place and that adequate resources exist in order to ensure the provision of professional, safe and high quality services. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring pro- fessional and technical excellence in the efficient and effective management and delivery of technical ser- vices relating to Estates Capital projects (major and minor), engaging with operational colleagues to en- sure operational and clinical engineering services, en- vironmental management, fire safety, health & safety and asbestos management is attained in accordance with internal and external performance targets. You will be responsible for managing the Projects Team, that will include the Capital Programme Man- ager (Minor Works), providing strong leadership to ensure all projects are briefed, designed, delivered, monitored and governed within strict budgetary and specification constraints; delivered to a high standard of quality and in a consistent and professional man- ner. JOB DIMENSIONS The post holder will be responsible for providing cost effective, professional estate services to the Trust. He/ she will identify and lead with the support of the pro- ject team, the future development of the organisation and department and maintain current services at the highest standards available to the NHS. He/she will proactively and professionally pursue value engineer- ing to the benefit of the Trust in procuring construc- tion development works.

• The total budget allocated to Projects to deliver new build, refurbishment and maintenance capi- tal schemes . • (Note:thetotalannualbudgetfortheProjectTeam is likely to be in the region of £5-25m per annum). PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. General • To assist the Deputy Director of Estates Capital & Strategic Development in providing advice to the Executive Team and other senior managers on all capital delivery issues. • To co-ordinate and ensure that services under their span of control strongly support clinical ser- vice delivery and provide value-for-money. • To assist and support Clinical, Divisional and Cor- porate areas in the achievement of their objectives by ensuring that hard FM services are delivered in accordancewithstatutoryrequirementsandTrust objectives. • Senior Head of Capital Delivery has responsi- bility to support the Deputy Director of Estates Capital & Strategic to inform, contribute, devel- op, implement and maintain a range of policies and management plans on behalf of the Project
