When Mr. and Mrs. A1 Mace first went to the village of U1 Yam Bahru, Malaysia, the departing missionaries warned them, “Do not speak to your neighbors, even the children, or they will throw handfuls of water

buffalo dung at you.” A1 answered, forthrightly, “I do not like to avoid speaking to anyone.” The missionary pointed to the cow dung plastered on the walls outside their kitchen, and A1 changed his mind, wondering how they would solve this prob­ lem.
