FAQS 1) HOW DOES MY CONTRIBUTION MAKE AN IMPACT? Data collected by Earthwatch scientists and volunteers are used to inform environmental policies and management plans that conserve ecosystems and restore biodiversity around the world. 2) HOW IS EARTHWATCH COMMITTED TO MY SAFETY? Risk is an inherent part of our work. As such, every Earthwatch research expedition undergoes a rigorous safety evaluation led by our international program team. In addition, project staff are trained in appropriate emergency response procedures and field safety standards. 3) DO I NEED TO HAVE ANY PRIOR SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE? No! You will learn all that you need to know when you get out to the field.

4) WHAT KIND OF PHYSICAL SHAPE DO I NEED TO BE IN? Every research expedition includes an “activity level” designation (from very easy to strenuous). If you have any questions about the fitness requirements, please contact our team at info @ earthwatch.org . We’re standing by to help you make the best choice for you! 5) WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY CONTRIBUTION COST?

13 PERCENT is spent by Earthwatch on risk assessments, health and safety policies, emergency response plans, and associated training. 11 PERCENT is spent by Earthwatch to thoroughly prepare you before departure.

11 PERCENT is spent by Earthwatch to promote expeditions and service your participation. 4 PERCENT is spent on medical and emergency evacuation insurance

61 PERCENT is spent by scientists on research activities, including associated administrative costs.
