Graduation Souvenir Supplement 2017

Congratulations to 2015’s highest achievers 7 ‘

Apprentice of the year 2017

Student: Nathan Ogilvie Assessor: Sandra Lingwood

This award recognises the incredible development of an apprentice who began their payroll career just two years ago.

This individual has completed both their level two and three apprenticeships in that time and has developed into a competent payroll officer who already processes a headcount of around 4,000 employees.

The employer said: “They have a true thirst for knowledge and I like to call them ‘the sponge’, the amount of payroll knowledge they have soaked up is quite incredible. I couldn’t have dreamed for a better apprentice and I truly believe they are a worthy winner.”

“When I was first told about this award, I never thought I’d even be considered, let alone win it! I would like to say a massive thanks to Cintra, who took me on at age eighteen and taught me everything I know about payroll, and to my tutor, Sandra Lingwood as well, who has been invaluable over the past two years. I am honoured to be the CIPP apprentice of the year.”

Foundation Degree in Payroll Management Best Work Based Project Award 2017

Student: Jill Swift Tutor: Pete Statham

The work based project is a substantial and challenging piece of work; students are required to negotiate a project within their organisation which focuses on a deep study of a live issue/ problem in the organisation.

This student was a high achiever getting an A in her first assignment and A+ thereafter.

The tutor of this individual said: “it was a well written and well-presented report, with good use of bullet points, sub paragraphs and in particular tables, diagrams and graphs which enhanced the presentation further. It’s been a pleasure tutoring this individual through the Foundation Degree and I wish her good luck in everything she does going forward”.

“I was very surprised and grateful to receive the award for the best work based project. I’ve loved the course from start to finish and am very grateful to my tutor Pete Statham and the tutor group for their encouragement and support over the three years. I worked hard on the project so to receive this recognition is the icing on the cake.”
