This award is presented to a year three graduate each year, and recognises the effort and fortitude of the individual for overcoming work or personal issues that could have stopped them continuing with their studies.
“This student joined my tutor group in year two and completed her studies earlier this year. She started off as a quiet and reserved student but once she got to know the group she actively contributed to tutorial discussions.
“This student had a pro-active attitude throughout the two years and her planning and organisational skills have most definitely helped ensure each submission was on time and to a good standard.“
“It was a tough year but I was always determined to complete the Foundation Degree despite being on maternity for the final part. Lots of planning meant I was able to complete most of the work based project during my babies nap or feeding times. I had great support from my loved ones and I feel privileged to win the award.”

Student: Callum O’Hagan Tutor: Lynne Miller
The work based project is a substantial and challenging piece of work; students are required to negotiate a project within their organisation which focuses on a deep study of a live issue/ problem in the organisation.
“The project was very well structured. An issue was identified in great detail and the conclusions and recommendations were clearly derived from their findings. The recommendations could clearly be linked back to the data analysis chapter. They were practical recommendations and could be easily implemented.
“This student has always been engaged, and made great contributions to the tutorials and continually produced a high standard of work that was a pleasure to both read and mark.”
“Thank you to everyone at work who supported me with my work based project, filling in my questionnaires and participating in interviews, and my managers for giving me all the guidance I needed. It was a great surprise to win the best work based project award.”
