Graduation Souvenir Supplement 2017

Congratulations to 2015’s highest achievers Foundation Degree in Pensions Administration and Management Student of the Year Award 2017 7 ‘

Student: Callum O’Hagan Tutor: Lynne Miller

The recipient of this year’s award has participated knowledgably, throughout the three years of the course, applying themselves extremely well and delivering consistently high quality work.

“They have shown commitment to their studies with excellent attendance at module review days and tutorials and always provided a valuable contribution. During the module review days and tutorials they were always focused and interactive, asking many valid questions and challenging where they felt it was necessary and it was a pleasure to see their development grow.

“They always made sure they understood the main objective of the assignments, and were never afraid to ask for clarification where applicable.

“Their assignments were always submitted on time and were well-presented and well-structured to a very high standard throughout the qualification and clearly showed the additional and extensive research that was undertaken for each module.

“The winner has been an excellent student and it has been a pleasure to have been their tutor”.

“I did not expect to win one award, let alone two, so it was a massive shock and honour to be called up a second time for the Student of the Year Award. It was a tough three years but well worth it in the end. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way, particularly my tutor Lynne Miller.”

BA (Hons) in Applied Business and Management (CIPP) Best Work Based Investigation 2017

Student: Emma Fryer Tutor: Sue Smith

The marking and moderation team at the University of Derby said: “This piece of work demonstrated excellent organisation and layout. The work was well structured, showed a depth of understanding and flowed coherently making it a pleasure to read. The gathered data and analysis for best work based investigation award 2017 was extremely thorough, thus providing a clear link between the data, the findings and the recommendations. In practical terms it was evident to see the relevance to the student’s organisation.” This student has shown great determination and ability in completing their dissertation to such a high standard and we know they surprised themselves because they asked the University to reconfirm their grade. The work based investigation is titled: Leadership styles and their impact on employees during a merger. “I was very proud to have graduated with my degree but I was even more astonished and honoured to receive the award for BA(Hons) best work based investigation 2017. My fellow graduates and I worked extremely hard balancing home life and work schedules and with the added addition of studying to this already hectic mix means we should all be proud of what we have accomplished. “I would like to thank my partner, family, colleagues, fellow students, the CIPP and tutors for all of their guidance, support and above all patience throughout the duration of the course. I look forward to being able to fully utilise the skills I have learnt throughout the course and to continuing my professional development.”
