Writing Workshop at Lisbon Congress

All the guests ran for the emergency exits, trampling each other. An elderly man stumbled and fell…, unable to move! A young man stepped on him and continued running, and a little girl, no more than five years old, stopped in front of him, gives him his hand and says: - "Go! Get up! Come with me!" - "Thank you! I don't know if I can do it." - "Of course you can. If I am, you will be too. Come and save my life. Can't you see I'm a child!" The man tripled his strength and stood up, and hand in hand with the little girl, they left the auditorium! Once outside, they sat on the sidewalk and found the man who had lost his voice, motionless with a lost look in his eyes. - "So?" the girl said. "Take it easy, everything is okay." The man, as if waking from a nightmare, stared at the girl in disbelief, with his mouth open. - "You know, my dad's a firefighter and always tells me we have to stay calm in these situations. I once got lost from my parents at the mall. I got distracted looking at the toys, but I kept my cool, went to talk to a security guard, and found them. By the way, where's my mom? Oh look! She's coming there from the back with her hair all messed up!" - "DAUGHTER!!!" Inês Ataíde Gomes, Sociedade Portuguesa de Psicanálise Just as he was about to address the assembled guests, he lost his voice. He looked around in a momentary panic. No one had noticed yet. Could there be a way out? He smiled. Applause rang through the hall, echoing, but gradually fading. Soon it would be his turn. Calm down! After all, you're just the conductor! No one will notice if you manage to disguise it. Take a deep breath and pick up the baton.

The lights in the audience dim. A defiant smile for the audience.
