Student Services Supplementary Information

Student Services Center Vision Statement A one-stop, student-oriented, service offering for students that increases satisfaction and retention, and decreases frustration and the time spent resolving issues. The objective is to create a holistic Student Services Center (SSC) that allows students to resolve their own issues 70% of the time. Cross-functional generalists would be available to assist students with 20% of issues, and specialists would take up the last 10% of effort. The Student Services Center Project has three components: technology, building, and organization. Building Component Bouillon Hall is the designated space for one-stop student services. Significant efforts have been made for several years to locate essential student services in Bouillon. The Bouillon Phase 1 Capital Project allowed for updates that extend the life of the building, such as a seismic and IT system upgrades, domestic water piping, and a new elevator. The next step is to improve programs and the interior to make a welcoming, functional and comfortable public space. • Responsive generalist staff located in Bouillon Hall will provide top-notch customer service • Systems will be put in place to prevent bottlenecks and students standing in line during peak demand • Services will coordinate to ensure that minimal number of touches by staff are required • Kiosks will be available (print, payment, service) to students for self-service • Other vital student services that remain offsite will be included at SSC during peak demand times such as orientation and the start of each quarter • Branded, accurate and easy to decipher signs and maps will be posted in strategic locations to help students identify services • The Student Services Center at Bouillon Hall will be an easy to access space with additional parking provided during peak times Technology Component Students are increasingly technology-dependent. The technological tools available to students need to be intuitive and accurate. A high-quality, online, directory component (one-stop), with easy to find information is essential. Goals: • Refreshed entrances and lobby for a more attractive space (completed by July 2019) • Private spaces will be available to resolve confidential matters
