either first or second grade (or both, as a mixed-age group) at Foote School. Hard to believe! I still love it; what more could you ask for?” Steve Lichten writes: “My daughter, Molly, and her husband, Josh Meister, now have a baby girl, Juliet, born in late June. She is adorable in every way. And… she is sleeping for about 12 hours through the night, every night!” And from Rich Manjoney : “In late September, Rosanne and I hopped on the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, to visit Richie Hehre ’72 hgs and Betsey Harrington ’72 dph . It was a beautiful early fall day, and we had a great time walking around the Oak Bluffs campground and Edgartown. We topped it off with a beer at Bad Martha. Always fun catching up with old friends.” Jim Perito writes: “I have happy news. My eldest daughter, Katrina, married her Georgetown classmate Ben Perotin on October 22. The service was at Saint Thomas More Chapel at Yale, with a reception at the James Blackstone Memorial Library in Branford. She and Ben live and work in New York City. It was a great day.” And Diane Vlotman Rossi sends “Greetings from bella Italia . My husband, Mike, and I and our dog, Muffin, relocated here on April 1 this year—not an April Fools’ joke! We made this difficult decision during lockdown 2020, and although there have been many challenges, including a scary earthquake, we are very happy in our new home in Fermo on the east coast of Central Italy.” And from Susan Spielvogel : “In early 2023, I will begin a social media campaign on Instagram and Twitter entitled Lusia’s Trunk in support of my Holocaust coming-of-age novel, Seeking a Common Thread: Book One of the Trunk Trilogy . The campaign will be a serialization of the narrative of the text from the novel, accompanied by family photographs and letters as well as photo- graphs of the objects from the trunk. future. He is already warning Willa Perlmutter on the West Coast and me ( Ellen Sherk Walsh ) in Maine of possible visits! Yours truly spent a lot of time on the sailboat this summer, but Far and Away is now sitting in our driveway, receiving some TLC before the next adventure. I’m still subbing at the local elementary school and continuing to volunteer at the Community Garden and at Freeport Community Services, as well as riding all over trails in southern Maine on my pony. Closer to home, Tom Migdalski writes that he spends much of his free time fishing off of Niantic, Connecticut, on his 19-foot boat, Diamond Girl . He continues to publish articles for local and national saltwater fishing magazines. No imminent retirement plans for him! He continues to be Yale’s full-time director of undergraduate intramurals, club sports, and the Yale Outdoors Club in East Lyme, Connecticut, as well as teaching an evening nutrition class at SCSU. 1977

Mark Arons has been in the news, representing the family of Mubarak Soulemane, a 19-year-old Black college student who was shot and killed by a Connecticut State Trooper in 2020. It is an important case, because it is the first time in more than17 years that any police officer in Connecticut has been criminally prosecuted for shooting someone. David Stevens reports from the West Coast that he recently celebrated a family reunion with his three brothers and sister and his 88-year-old mom. He has the goal of retiring in 2024 to pursue writing and music composition projects. His grandkids continue to thrive. Jon Seltzer writes from his home in Germany that the Russian invasion of Ukraine has thrown Europe in turmoil. The cost of fuel far surpasses the cost in the States. Due to Russian sanctions, his company, which sells sustainably manufactured, environmentally responsible paint, has lost 50% of their sales revenue and Jon must travel all over Europe to find new customers. In his down time, he has been hiking in Portugal and locally on the Swabian Alb. He has been scuba diving and still plays the oboe. He lives very close to work in a home that he shares with his kids. Speaking of travel, Tim Scherr continues to travel the world on delightful-sounding cruises with Diane. The latest was a Viking River Cruise from Bucharest, Romania, to Budapest, Hungary. While in Connecticut this past August, he met up with classmates Mark Arons and Tony Astmann , attended Diane’s sibling reunion, and even managed to win a tidy sum at Mohegan Sun Casino! He recently celebrated his birthday at Dollywood. Lest you think the years are slowing him down, Tim is also coaching soccer for his grandkids. He is stepping up to the bat after cancer tragically took the life of his son-in-law. More trips are in his

Thank you to our classmates who had a little fun sending "short clips" for this issue of the Views . Perhaps we'll have more participants in the future. Holly Clifford Grossman wrote "Our younger daughter Hayley was married in October in Vermont and is a school counselor. Our daughter Heidi, in Chicago, had a baby boy. So, we are grandparents to a 1 year old! Heidi is the marketing director for a fitness wearable." This from Lascelles Browne: "As we get older prepare for change. By preparing yourself for that change helps you to be better equipped for the future." Polly Byers wrote "I’ve been living in western Massachusetts, for about 12 years, having moved up from Washington D.C. where I worked in international development at the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Dept, and now head a small international peacebuilding organization based in Amherst, MA." Rick Trowbridge is still working but hopes to retire in the near future to enjoy grandchildren. He currently has one, Rowan Michael Trowbridge, a 6 month old boy living in Arvada, Colorado.
