Identification Services Unit (FISU) were called out on April 18, to a residence near the Ottawa River in Wendover, because of a report of unidentified human remains found. The body was discovered along the river shore, at a location off of Division Road in the Village of Wendover, in Alfred-Plan- tagenet Township. The remains were removed from the site

and taken to Ottawa Hospital for a post mor- tem examination on April 19. So far police know that the remains are of aman, estimated between 40 to 50 years old, with an approximate height of six feet. The examination indicates his head was shaved and his face was unshaven, with very short or stubbly beard hair. At the time the body was discovered, the flooding in some areas around the township may be possible. The SNC noted that water levels in other parts of the South Nation watershed are starting to become normal with the risk of flooding also declining. The regional conservation agency continues to monitor the watershed situation and updates are posted on its website at www.nation.on.ca. Some areas of Prescott-Russell may still be subject to flooding problems, involving either rural roads or private properties, as a result of blockages in some drainage ditches. Residents throughout the Prescott-Russell region are still advised to check their local municipal websites for updates on local flooding conditions and road closures in their own areas.

The SouthNation Conservation Authority (SNC) issued a notice warning residents in the South Nation River watershed region, that water levels in some parts of the upper watershed, where it drains into the Ottawa River, might “significantly increase” before starting to settle back down as summer approaches.
