Clean Air Day! What’s your pledge.

MAKE IT BETTER June 17th was Clean Air Day. The Abbey Junior PCSOs were trained about air pollution and supported the class teacher with the delivery of a special class presentation. We recognised this day across our school with a PCSO parking patrol; class assembly; asking the children to make a pledge for the day and one to go beyond ‘Clean Air Day’. The pledges people are making are: • I pledge to go polluting vehicle free on 17 June Clean Air Day • I pledge to give my car a day off on 17 June Clean Air Day and try this out on regular occasions • I pledge to avoid ordering non-essential, polluting deliveries on 17 June Clean Air Day and consider my consumer habits • I pledge to support my local council’s clean air activities • I pledge to tell my local council what I want to see happening to tackle air pollution • I pledge to make a public statement to act on air pollution on 17 June Clean Air Day • I pledge to walk or cycle to school more frequently • I pledge to use quieter routes • I pledge to travel electric • I pledge to switch off my engine near the school • I pledge to avoid using wood burning stoves and open fires on 17 June Clean Air Day • I pledge to avoid burning household and garden waste on 17 June Clean Air Day • I pledge to learn more about air pollution on 17 June Clean Air Day To find out more about air pollution and to view the ‘Clean Air Day’, YouTube videos, visit our Abbey Junior PCSO page on the school website https://www.abbeyfederation.co.uk/abbey-junior- pcso-2020-2021/ Thanks to Mrs. Flanagan for the story.
