Young people from the participating countries take part in training courses, study visits and a larger event in Türkiye where they work together and exchange experiences before setting up a fundraising campaign and supporting the young participants’ projects int he months after the mobility activity. The project fosters entrepreneur- ship among young people according to the principles of sustainable and green development.
Description: The project, carried out in 2017, was designed for young people who want to grow plants and food with others as part of community building by volunteering, managing or setting up a community garden, or similar food or farming. The aims of the project were – to promote young people’s personal development and employability in the European labour market and beyond; – to provide young people with the necessary skills to participate actively in community building, using gardening as a tool; – to raise youth awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries, offering them the opportunity to build networks of international contacts.

Green Belt Days: a youth camp in the forests of Strandja

It consisted of several connected activities to build the capacity of SAVA working group of SCI (responsible for exchanges in the Balkans) in youth work given the current social and environmental challenges. Through this project, partici- pants gained a wide variety of knowledge and skills relating to the use of permaculture in peace work. A video documentation was produced.

Description: As part of the European Green Belt Day events in September 2021, young people from different regions of Türkiye and experts from Bulgaria met in the forests of Strandja. Experts from both countries showed the 24 young women and men some of the most ecolog- ically precious areas in the region. They also visited villages in the border area and had the opportunity to talk and listen to residents at first hand about their experience at the time of the cold war. A mobile exhibition with life-size models of rare birds at the Balkan Green Belt was also organised.
