3. Promotion to Associate Professor is usually not sought until a candidate has been an Assistant Professor for 5 years, while promotion to Professor is usually not sought until after 7 years as an Associate Professor. However, time in position is not considered as a primary criterion for promotion. Appointment or promotion with fewer years in rank may be considered in cases where the candidate has successfully met the criteria for advancement.

B. Faculty applying for reappointment:

1. Faculty member will be notified by the department of impending reappointment cycle with a Notification Packet. The notification packet will include a Faculty Dossier Requirement List explaining the required materials and a copy of the CV format guidelines.

2. Faculty member must submit all reappointment dossier materials to the Director’s Office by March 1 st of penultimate year

3. Department ARPT Committee reviews faculty dossiers and submits dossier and recommendation to the department chair who will review it and submit it with his/her independent recommendation to The Office of Faculty Affairs. In accordance with the articles of agreement between the AAUP and the University of Cincinnati, non-union members of the Department of Family & Community Medicine ARPT committee will participate in the ARPT review of non-union faculty. A separate department faculty ARPT Committee, comprised of AAUP members, will participate in the review of AAUP faculty.

REQUIRED MATERIALS FOR COLLEGE OF MEDICINE FACULTY DOSSIERS

A. Initial Appointment for Full-Time and Adjunct Faculty

1. Department Chair’s recommendation letter.

2. Department ARPT Committee Chair’s recommendation letter (not required for Volunteer and Visiting tracks).

3. Department Chair’s letter describing time commitment and activities the faculty member will be doing.

4. Current curriculum vitae of faculty candidate - A suggested format may be accessed at the Faculty Affairs website or the DFCM intranet: https://fammed2.uc.edu/default.aspx. CV’s exported from eProfessional
