o Start with making boxing programs for youth and locate gyms or locations to implement programs o Begin seeking funds Year (2) o Have funding and contribution process in place from sponsors o Have functioning website designed  Create links with PD websites with the PAL website o Expand gym locations o Begin to incorporate other sports such as basketball and flag football o Develop grant proposals and seek funding through CCPD o Have officers working with youth in a mentor/coach role at all locations Year (3) o Have dedicated officer positions for all PAL Gym locations  This will involve officers applying and submitting packets Year (4) o Have self-sustaining PAL in place o Begin writing policy proposals to make the PAL part of future PD goals  This will include make a PAL team o Begin requests for permanent officer/supervisor positions for the PAL Year (5) o The PAL is a part of PD policy, practices and a new unit with personnel permanently assigned o The PAL is written in to departmental policy/GO’s Gang Officers are creating a local chapter of the Parent Project, which is a national program encouraging collaboration between officers and parents of high-risk youth. The Parent Project is a 10 to 16 week parent training program designed specifically for parents of strong-willed or out-of-control adolescent children. Parents attend and learn in a classroom setting, to manage teen behavior problems at home using an activity based 216-page workbook titled “A Parent’s Guide to Destructive Adolescent Behavior.” The curriculum teaches concrete identification, prevention, and intervention strategies for the most destructive of adolescent behaviors (poor school attendance and performance, alcohol and other drug use, gangs, runaways, violent teens, etc.). Parent support groups are formed using the UCLA, Self-Help Support Group model. With twenty-five years in development, the Parent Project is the only course of its kind. Over 500,000 families have attended Parent Project classes nationwide. The program is also the largest court-mandated juvenile diversion program in the country. Over one third of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) funded Youth Gang Prevention and Intervention Programs use the Parent Project Model.
