you also see everyone making big moves and being successful. I am only a Neophyte, but I can say I love this fraternity and I plan on being a worker for the fraternity until the day I die. Kappa Alpha Psi ® is very important to me and like they say, ‘If you are good to Kappa, Kappa will be good to you,’ and I plan on always being good to Kappa. Journal: What do you find are the most pressing challenges for under- graduate members? Garcia: I think one pressing chal- lenge for undergraduate members is being able to handle the fraternity life on campus and stay on top of their academics. As Kappa men, we must excel in all areas, including education. A lot of undergradu-

alumni chapters. Many brothers on the yard are the first ones back since the moratorium. We will not be able to do everything correctly and we lack the guidance we need. Some- times the alumni chapters either don’t receive us well or they are just to far geographically. If we had more alumni brothers looking after us on campus, the transition into being on campus alone and maintaining our image on campus would be much easier. The last challenge I see is being able to get undergraduate brothers involved. I’m talking about there is a lack of presence of many under- grads when it comes to Province Board Meetings and Grand Chapter Meetings and just overall any event that does not seem like a “turn up.” This is an undergraduate fraternity and we need more presence of us younger brothers in many settings because we too have a say in certain things. Our voices need to be heard. Journal: How would you propose to overcome those challenges? Garcia: In regard to maintaining the life of a Nupe on campus and educa- tion is simple, use your resources. We have older brothers that we can reach out too, advisors and any brother. We are all about achieve- ment and I doubt a brother of mine would let me fail. There are plenty of resources to reach out to. To better the relationship between undergraduates and alumni Broth- ers, we simply need to just spend more time with them. And they also

graduating. After meeting all of the Kappas at ISU I knew that I could have something to offer to Kappa and I was willing to work as hard as I need to in order to be apart of that Great Bond I saw. Journal: What does Kappa Alpha Psi ® mean to you? Garcia: Kappa Alpha Psi ® to me means I am a part of something larger than myself. I never looked at Kappa and said, ‘What can Kappa offer me.’ It was always me asking myself ‘What can I offer Kappa and how can I make a positive impact?’ I am apart of a fraternity where the brotherhood is genuine and we are all striving to achieve together. It’s crazy to see how brothers are so willing to help out each other and

ate brothers lose sight of that mindset because we are on a col- lege campus. It sometimes gets hard to manage everything es- pecially when the campus simply loves the Nupes. Another challenge I see is trying to better the relationship between undergraduate chapters and
