Scheurer Magazine // 2026

Our first true experience with Scheurer was choosing Dr. Akbar for our doctor when he was seeing patients in Port Austin. He delivered our first son in 1984 and Dr. Ray delivered our second in 1988. Since then, Dr. Khan and Scheurer have been our hospital of choice through the years. We have always felt very comfortable receiving services from all departments. I think one of the nicest touches is that everyone will smile and say hello when you meet them in the hallway. Am I Scheurer? Yes I am! -Marcia Brock When I was a senior at Laker High School in 1972, I was part of the high school co-op program. One of my jobs was to pull the medical records of the patients that were coming into the clinic the following day and the refile the charts at the end of each day. Ironically, one of my careers as an adult was as a computer instructor with Epic Systems, the electronic medical record that Scheurer Health currently uses! I also remember wanting my ears pierced; after all, I was a senior in high school! The only way I was allowed to do that was by a physician. So, at the end of the year, Dr. Elliot pierced my ears. -Cathryn Snider

My journey started the moment I was born. At the end of 1993, I was one of the last babies to be born at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. This also when Dr. Kala Reddy was starting her career at Scheurer and I was her first patient. My mom, Kim Krohn joined the Scheurer family in 2002. She has witnessed a LOT of renovations that made Scheurer Health what it is today. She has always said Scheurer has been a great place for her and her family since day one. I guess you could say I really took those “take your child to work days” seriously when I joined Scheurer in 2024. I currently serve as an accountant in the Finance department and I love it. So it’s no exaggeration when I say that my Scheurer story started the moment I was born and extends to this very day. I was Scheurer from day one and continue to be Scheurer! -Krissia Krohn

My kindergarten class had the opportunity to go on a Pediatric Tour at Scheurer Health in Pigeon. The students got to visit several departments and learn about what their jobs are to help keep us safe and healthy. It was such a great experience for our students. They had a blast!
