Scheurer Magazine // 2026

Scheurer Hospital was a lifeline for my husband Al and me. He fought a lot of health problems the last five years of his life and the doctors and staff were always there for us. Dr. Hanselman and her staff were like family. I could call with a problem and they always managed to work us in. The ER and Pharmacy were the same; always so caring and on top of things. I call it a large, perfect diamond in a small town. I have to comment on the free coffee and soda that is offered. I certainly drank more than my share but what a wonderful service. Thank you, Scheurer. Stay strong!

Dr. Scheurer’s legacy will continue to live with the amazing Scheurer Hospital and several doctors in his family, including his son and grand- children. Dad was such a visionary. He knew that it was necessary that a community he loved so much needed a clinic, hospital and educational facilities. He spent much of his free time on various boards to ensure these necessities were available. He was very involved in all these endeavors, as well as personally providing medical care for the community. As a kid, I watched him entertain, sometimes too much entertainment and fun. I recall a story about the time when he and his friends, full of entertainment, got together and shot out the four streetlights in Pigeon, which of course he replaced later. It was a good laugh for all. He also spent much of his time in the summers with others, developing Sand Point. I kindly remember him volunteering us to do work at the hospital and helping us with our homework. To me, he was the best dad. To others, he was the best doctor, friend and community leader.

Scheurer has impacted my life since 2012 when I was first hired in to work at the Walk-In Clinic after getting married and relocating to my husband’s hometown. Since then, I have grown professionally and personally. My husband and I have three amazing boys, our forever home and the ability to provide a positive future for our children and ourselves. I am incredibly grateful to be part of this organization. -Kim Leipprandt
