JESUS, THE ONLY WAY An Object Lesson By Mrs. Eula Wilson

OBJECTS NEEDED: Toy telephone, tele phone book, Bible, and small blackboard. Tim rushed in to ask the hostess at Bible Club to use the telephone before class. George wanted him to stop by his home to see the new ball glove he had received for his birthday, but first Tim must call his mother to ask permission. In his haste he dialed 4014. "H e llo ," came a voice in Tim 's ear. "I'm calling my mother," declared Tim as he put the telephone back on the hook. " Is this mother?" inquired Tim. "Th is is the Cecil Shaw residence." " Is this Mother?" Tim demanded. "Th is is the Fred Whitewater resi dence," the voice exclaimed. "I'm sorry," declared Tim , "I have the wrong number." Quickly he dialed 4104. "H e llo ," came another strange voice. Once again he dialed. 4004 gave no answer. "W hy doesn't she answer?" de manded Tim . " I know she is home. She said she would be." In desperation Tim began to lose patience. George waited anxiously. He did so want Tim to see the new ball glove. "A re you sure you rang the correct number, Timm y?" asked the hostess. " I think so. I rang 4014 and 4104 and 4004. I know it's one of them ," he insisted. (Plan numbers on the blackboard.) The kind hostess opened the telephone book and found the name of Timothy's parents. Timothy Johnson's number was 4410. In his sincere effort to ask mother's permission Tim had dialed the wrong number. As soon as he dialed 4410 his mother answered. When the class was all in place the teacher said, "Boys and girls, did you noj tice how anxious Tim was to talk to his mother? He was sincere, and he knew I how to use the telephone. His mother was home but she didn't answer Tim at first. He called the wrong number, didn't he? How could Timmy have saved time? By looking in the phone book to be sure the first time. Sometimes boys and girls know théir need of salvation and are ever so sincere, but they fail to look in God's book (show Bible) to find the way. Tim had only one number wrong. Would being almost right ever ring his mother's telephone? No, not any nearer than if all the numbers were wrong. So it is in becoming a Christian. One may be sincere but that is not enough! He must come God's way. This Way is found in God's Book, the Bible. Let us read if together. John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Now turn to Acts 4 :1 2 , "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved." The Lord Jesus, by dying upon the cross has become the W ay to God, the Way to become a Christian, and the Way to Heav en. Each person (boy or girl, man or woman) must take Him as their own Sav
