ning goal on Char-Lan’s second attempt. The day after, in Morrisburg, no shootout was needed but the Glens had to bring everything but the kitchen sink for a 6-2 win against the Lions. Jeffrey Rhainds and Bradley Gabbour both scored two goals and goalie Callum Cassidy-Matthews smel- led rubbery after stopping 57 pucks during the game. Alexandria scored four goals in a row, including an empty netter by Connor MacLeod to thwart any Lions’ comeback attempt. With three wins in six games, the Glens are third in the St. Lawrence division, right behind the Casselman Vikings. The Akwe- sasne Wolves are three points behind the Glens, but have one less game played. The Glens will play one more game on the road tonight in Winchester before coming back to the Palace for Saturday night hoc- key against the Vikings.

With two goals against the Lions, Jeffrey Rhainds is now a top 3 scorer with the Glens.

ALEXANDRIA | The Alexandria Glens start- ed October with a game to remember against the Char-Lan Rebels. Both teams unleashed more than 30 shots on goal during the game and a shootout was nec- essary to find a true winner. «It was one heck of a game,” said Rebels’ fan Jason Bonspiel. “We got some hard-hit- ting hockey during the first period and the Rebels came back strong during the third frame. The rivalry lives on and it’s awesome to see the fans in a frenzy so soon in the sea- son.” Char-Lan struck first with David Poirier’s first of the season at 2:28. The Glens then tied the game at mid-period, thanks to Gabriel Cuillerier. The referees then had a hard time before the buzzer with a fight and players who just wouldn’t listen. The second period started on the same note with a hit to the head by Char-Lan Matthew Grégoire. Between the pipes, Nicholas Maheux brought his A-game, stopping nine shots while his team scored two more goals (Maxime St-Georges, Ryan Sabourin). With a 3-1 lead, the Glens were in charge but the Rebels weren’t dead yet. At 3:20, Matthew Grégoire used his stick the right way for his first of the campaign. Less than three minutes later, Char-Lan tied the game and the 3-3 score lasted until the end of the third period and pass the overtime. With only four shots on goal during the fourth frame, the shootout was an exciting necessity to declare a winner. The Glens sent Gabbour, Sabourin and Cuillerier for the wins but all of them were robbed by goalie Ryan Cooper. Matthew Grégoire ended up as the hero for the Rebels, scoring the win-
