Responsibility for Policy and Service Development

• Develop and manage documentation systems including policies, procedures, registers, within areas of responsibility. • You will be required to undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required • Ensure that you are aware of and aligned with Goldsmiths’ Regulations, Strategy, and Objectives to work together to proactively advance Equality and Diversity • At all times to help maintain a safe working environment by participating in training as necessary and following the Goldsmiths’ Health and Safety Codes of Practice and Policy

• The post holder will be responsible for policy development and implementation for the areas of fire, safety and Environment, for example: is expected to lead on policy development within fire safety such as, University Fire Policy and Fire Strategy. • Produce an annual report to be forwarded to the relevant Governance Committee and Board detailing the standard of fire safety across all University premises. • Produce an annual report to be forwarded to the relevant Committees detailing the standard of moving and handling across all premises. • Assess building fire plans and formulate strategic plans across the organisation to ensure the risk to occupants of fire is reduced to a level expected by legislation. • Ability to produce reports that thoroughly inform SMT on past performance and necessary actions for the future to ensure fire safety and Environmental compliance. • When refurbished projects are commissioned decisions are occasionally based on probabilities and not known outcomes. The Fire Manager’s role is to exercise a high level of adaptive thinking to enable Project Officers to feel confident in some of their commissioning decisions. • Analyse fire occurrences whether real or false alarms to look for trends or certain patterns that have occurred. Draw up an effective plan to reduce the risk and inconvenience of further occurrences in the future.

• To prepare and submit reports on schedule to agreed formats.
