Education 4 Education is a cornerstone of Irvine life, from innovative preschool programs to world-class doctoral studies. The City’s public schools consistently rank among the finest in California. The Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) educates a diverse population of students, with more than 36,000 kindergartners through 12 th graders in 44 campuses. Irvine students lead Orange County in SAT test scores, with more than 81 percent of IUSD high school graduates attending college. The Tustin Unified School District also serves Irvine residents with four campuses. The City has consistently provided major support for Irvine schools in recent years. In 2006, the City Council established the Irvine Educational Partnership Fund, a City program that provides annual City funding to support IUSD. The Irvine Educational Partnership Fund supports Irvine students’ academic performance through enhanced, innovative programs and services, including health services and guidance for K – 12 students. Direct and indirect annual support reaches $10.7 million — an amount that may be unprecedented nationwide by any city that does not directly operate its school system.
