Cotswolds Villages and Stratford-Upon-Avon

MONDAY 9TH – FRIDAY 13TH OCTOBER

A charming tour visiting the birthplace of Shakespeare, Stratford-Upon- Avon, the city of Warwickshire and the towns of Kidderminster and Chipping North. Alongside a day spent touring the beautiful Cotswolds visiting the pretty towns of Moreton-In-Marsh, Stow-On-The-Wold, and Bourton-On-The-Water. Day 1 Following a collection from home we head to our hotel, The Chesford Grange, pausing in Cambridge on the way. Day 2 Today we make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon, beginning with a short photo stop at Anne Hathaway's idyllic cottage, before heading into the centre of the town where the rest of the day is free for you to explore at leisure. With more than 800 years of history, well known as the birthplace of Shakespeare. There are many attractions and things to do in the town. Day 3 After breakfast this morning we travel west to spend the morning in Kidderminster. A large market town, once a key location to make speeches with Winston Churchill, Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin, explorer Earnest Shackleton and women’s rights campaigner Emmeline Pankhurst having spoken at the famous town hall. In the afternoon we travel to the historic City of Worcester, where we have the afternoon to explore the city, with its imposing Cathedral well worth a visit. Day 4 This morning we set off on a wonderful scenic drive into the beautiful Cotswolds countryside. Our first stop is Moreton-in-Marsh a delightful market town. After spending some time here we move onto Stow-on-the-Wold, a quintessential English town with mellow Cotswold stone buildings, a fine selection of shops, chic bistros, Cotswold inns and cosy tea shops. Continuing through the countryside we enjoy an extended stop in Bourton-on-the-Water, regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, enjoy some tranquil time by the River Windrush with its beautiful bridges. We return to our hotel via Chipping Norton the rolling scenery of the Cotswolds hills. Day 5 We depart after a leisurely breakfast and make our way home.

Bournemouth & The Isle of Wight

MONDAY 16TH – FRIDAY 20TH OCTOBER

Based in Bournemouth, this tour enjoys a day on the Isle of Wight and a visit to Maritime Portsmouth to remind us of our sea-faring roots. Day 1 Following a collection from home we head to our hotel, The Durley Dean, pausing in Guildford on the way. Day 2 We begin with a drive to Portsmouth. The Old Town offers much of interest – the beautiful Portsmouth Cathedral, Spice Island, haunt of smugglers and press gangs of many years ago, a good choice of pubs to relax and watch the boats, and more. A recent addition to the Portsmouth skyline and well worth a visit is the Spinnaker Tower. Marvel at the views over the South Coast, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth. On a clear day you can see 23 miles. Take the opportunity to enjoy a coffee in the Café in the Clouds. Afterwards we have free time in Gunwharf Quays, a designer shopping outlet with seafront bars and restaurants. Day 3 Our day begins with a ride to the ferry terminal in Lymington where we catch the Wightlink sailing across to Yarmouth. We have a tour around the island, taking in Ryde, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and the South Coast, to Freshwater and the Needles before returning to Yarmouth for the return sailing across to the mainland, and returning to the hotel. Day 4 A free day to relax and enjoy the delights that Bournemouth has to offer. Day 5 We depart after a leisurely breakfast and make our way to Winchester for a little free time before continuing the journey home.
