The Amazing Spiderman Heroic sewing skills
SUPERHEROES Year 3 had an exciting Superhero Day. They acquired new life skills by learning how to sew two pieces of material together, creating their own Superhero cape! Once completed, the children wore their capes to perform their Superhero themed dance, which they had been learning throughout the term in PE. They were dazzling! As a final surprise, at the end of the day, we had a visitor: The Amazing Spiderman. The children had the opportunity to ask him questions about his life and had a photograph with him. What a fantastic way to finish the half term! Thanks to Mrs Johnson for the story. SKILLED YOUNGSTERS On Thursday 8th February 10 children from KS1 travelled to Tipton Sports Academy to compete in the Sainsbury's School Games Multi Skills Competition. The children took part in a number of activities including: speed bounce, sprint relay, bean bag collecting, catching and a target game, where they had to earn as many points as possible for the team. 15 local schools took part and Abbey managed to score enough points to finish in third place! The children won a medal each and the chance to go on and represent Sandwell at the Black Country School Games in the Summer Term! Well done boys and girls! WE WERE ROBBED During Spring 1 Abbey competed in both the Premier League Schools Tournament hosted by West Bromwich Albion FC and the English Football League Kids Cup, hosted by Birmingham City FC. Abbey was successful in both events and qualified for the next stage of the tournaments, where they faced other schools who had qualified at a later date. Abbey returned to WBA FC and BCFC and played some fantastic football throughout and were able to reach the final of both tournaments, which is a fantastic achievement. It was however, in the final that the team's journey would end. Being beaten in the final, on one occasion by a penalty shootout was very unfortunate. Well done for getting to both Finals!
