THE

Sin, Dex! Marching orders

FORT FUN Year 4 children visited The Lunt Roman Fort, where they have been learning to be Roman soldiers. Having provided the required Latin password on arrival and learnt all about fort’s defences, they were escorted to the granary, where they heard all about Roman armour. Back outside, they were taught to march – ‘sin, dex, sin, dex’. 4RP had to battle the rain as well as the Celts but they were not to be deterred. Dressed in tunics and armed with swords and shields, they learnt to fight battles and defend themselves. In formation, they ducked behind their shields to escape the on-coming arrows. The Roman weather Gods shone on 4P and 4A, who were fortunate enough to be able to visit the Gyrus - the horse training arena which was unique in the Roman Empire. They got the chance to fight and put battle strategies into action.
