FOUNDATION LEARNING FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS & DISABILITY SUPPORT (SEND)
Foundation Learning courses are designed for students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Programmes are tailored to individual needs and help develop communication, independence, employability and social skills through engaging, practical learning.
AREAS OF STUDY • Introduction to Creative Arts & Wellbeing (Entry 2) • Art, Design & Media (Entry 3, Level 1 and Foundation Level 2) • Performing Arts (Entry 3, Level 1 and Foundation Level 2) • Construction – various trades available (Entry 3)
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE • Practical and classroom sessions • Educational visits and trips
• Work-related activities • Enrichment programmes

SUPPORTED INTERNSHIPS In partnership with DFN Project SEARCH, Preston College offers supported internships for young people aged 18–25 with an EHCP. The programme combines work placements with Lancashire County Council or Lancashire Constabulary and a personalised study programme focused on employability and independent living skills. Students are supported by a tutor and employability coach, helping them develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to progress into paid employment and adult life.
