AWA Releases Report On Pressure Sensitive Labels With a 40 percent share of the total labeling market, pressure sensitive labels are still the leading label for- mat around the world, according to a new report from AWA Alexander Watson Associates entitled AWAreness Report: Global Pressure sensitive Label Market 2020 . Additionally, pressure sensitive labeling enjoyed 3.3 percent growth in 2019. Today, the Asian region represents the highest per- centage of the pressure sensitive label market, with a 38 percent share, and it is still growing. North Ameri- ca, Europe, and even South America also experienced growth in 2019. However, the fastest-growing, but cur- rently small, regional market is now Africa and Middle East, which saw 3.6 percent growth last year and is a new focus point for the labeling and packaging indus- try as a whole. Globally, the food and beverage end use segments represent the highest usage of pressure sensitive la- bels in primary labeling applications, with a 44 per- cent share of the total market. However, transport and logistics applications represent a 47 percent share of pressure sensitive usage today. A sign of the times, variable information printing is the key factor in sup- porting a safe, trustworthy e-commerce/internet sales supply chain. UPM Raflatac Introduces Recycled Paper Face Material Label to Label features up to 30 percent post-con- sumer waste (PCW) containing recycled label backing. The label liners are collected via the RafCycle by UPM Raflatac service and through other industry ini- tiatives. Next, they are de-siliconized and converted to raw PCW, and then UPM Raflatac’s raw materials sup- plier makes new paper label facestock from PCW con- taining recycled label fiber. Finally, UPM Raflatac turns this label facestock into the Label to Label product, reportedly creating a closed-loop solution.
