FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

O n the eve of my retirement, I’m feeling warmth, joy, appreciation, and gratitude, alongside a heartfelt conviction that these past 12 years have been the absolute highlight of my professional career. Not to mention my unwavering certainty that Levine is the very best school I’ve had the privilege of serving. What makes Levine excellent? The answer is simple: all of you – the students, families, teachers, admin, staff, alumni, and board members. There are many of you, but I will miss you all. I’ll miss hanging out with students in their classroom or joining them during lunchtime and recess. I’ll miss roaming the sidelines during all those sporting matches I’ve happily attended over the years. It’s also been a joy working shoulder to shoulder with my admin team on behalf of our faculty in pursuit of our school’s mission. They are the team of my professional career. In addition, I fervently appreciate my partnership with all our board members over the years, and certainly the board leaders with whom I have worked so closely. Together we utilized their expert counsel and wisdom as we guided Levine on its continuum of excellence. As I close this chapter of service, I want to take the time to welcome the incoming Head of School, Dr. Lisa Vardi. Over the past few months, I’ve gotten to learn a lot about Dr. Vardi, and I’m certain she will engender the exceptional academic and inspiring Judaic programs we’re accustomed to at Levine, as well as bring a refreshed vision toward the future of our school. As I prepared the school and Dr. Vardi for a smooth transition, I was reminded of the phrase “It’s the finish that counts!” I still feel the same sense of excitement and pride in our school’s mission — right now — that I felt when I first stepped foot on this campus 12 years ago. Thank you to everyone for your investment in Levine Academy.

Andrea Steiger with her husband Brett.

A s I begin my second term as President of the Board of Trustees, I do so with deep gratitude and optimism for the future of Levine Academy. It is an honor to serve a school that has meant so much to my family and our community. This year marks an exciting new chapter as we welcome Dr. Lisa Vardi as our new Head of School. Leadership transitions are important milestones that offer opportunities to reflect on our values and envision our future. I look forward to partnering with Dr. Vardi, our faculty and staff, and fellow trustees as we build on Levine’s strong foundation. In 2024, the Board adopted a Strategic Plan centered on five priorities: academic excellence and inclusion, investment in our people, expansion of programs, campus enhancement, and long-term financial sustainability . Together, these goals reinforce our commitment to providing an exceptional academic and Judaic education. I am proud to share that meaningful progress is already underway. From strengthening leadership and faculty development to enhancing programs, campus safety, and financial stability, we are building momentum across our strategic priorities. As we continue this work, I am encouraged by what we have accomplished and inspired by what lies ahead. Together, our community is ensuring Levine remains a vibrant, thriving place for future generations.

Andrea Steiger President, Board of Trustees

INTRODUCING DR. LISA VARDI

“Thank you for the opportunity to serve all of you as Head of School and lead this inclusive, dynamic Jewish community into the next phase of its remarkable journey. I’m eager to collaborate in the tradition of making Levine a place of Jewish joy and academic excellence, with a commitment to each child’s growth, discovery and development as future leaders. I look forward to meeting many more of you this year, so if you’re on campus, please feel free to stop by and say hi!” Dr. Lisa Vardi , Head of School

INVESTING IN LEVINE’S FUTURE

STRATEGIC PLAN

The strategic plan passed by the Board of Trustees in 2024 outlines an ambitious path forward for the school. The Board of Trustees, administration and faculty have worked together to identify specific courses of action and prioritize needs for Levine Academy over the next few years.

GOAL 2 BUILD A CULTURE OF DISTINCTION THROUGH PEOPLE We will recruit and retain the best faculty, staff, and administrative leaders and nurture a strong culture to maintain excellence. We will create a competitive compensation philosophy for both salary and benefits to ensure excellence, and we will require ongoing teacher professional development becoming an employer of first choice. ENHANCING EXCELLENCE AND INCLUSION We will continue to build Levine Academy to be a center for learning excellence and a top-choice Dallas independent school, where children are excited and engaged in learning, students are passionate about being Jewish, and where all Jewish families are welcomed, celebrated and comfortable, no matter their family practice. GOAL 1 EXPAND WORLD-CLASS CURRICULAR PROGRAMS We will continue to develop and expand world-class curricular and co-curricular programs underpinned with the necessary social and emotional health resources centered on Jewish values to support our students and mission. GOAL 3 BUILDING FOR GROWTH AND SECURITY We will update and expand our facilities to create state-of-the-art, functional learning spaces which will provide the necessary space to support and build community. Further, we will focus on enhancing security and create a streamlined entrance point to safeguard our people. GOAL 4 PLAN FOR AND INVEST IN OUR FINANCIAL STABILITY We will focus on financial sustainability, determining long and short-term endowment goals to position our school to be competitive and sustainable while being sensitive to accessibility. GOAL 5

At Levine Academy, philanthropy plays a vital role in sustaining the exceptional educational experience our families value. While tuition provides the majority of funding for our programs, charitable support ensures we expand opportunities for a strong future. Questions? Please contact Yael Twito at ytwito@levineacademy.org or call (972) 248-3032. THE LEVINE FUND The Levine Fund is our annual giving campaign and the cornerstone of philanthropic support for the school. Contributions help meet current operating needs, including tuition assistance, faculty development, classroom technology, extracurricular programming, and campus security. GALA & SPECIAL EVENTS Our Annual Gala is the school’s most important fundraising event, generating significant support for tuition assistance and other mission-critical priorities. Through sponsorships, tribute journal advertising, auctions, and event attendance, donors help ensure that a Levine education remains accessible to families seeking a strong Jewish education. GRANTS Grant funding represents an important source of revenue secured through competitive application processes. This year, thanks to the generosity of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas , Levine Academy received $223,200 in tuition assistance for our families and $5,000 in grant funds supporting our EC Social Emotional Behavioral Support program. GROWING OUR FUTURE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN Through the quiet phase of our Growing Our Future Capital Campaign , generous donors have helped build momentum toward a stronger, more vibrant future for Levine. Capital gifts and pledges support major renovations, facility improvements and other large-scale investments that will strengthen our campus and position the school for long-term growth. Thus far, we have raised $10,581,656 in gifts and pledges toward our goal . Scan the QR to learn more about the Capital Campaign and our vision for the future of Levine Academy.

BRITTNEY LEFKOVITS ‘05

My story with Levine Academy began before I was born. In 1986, when my parents emigrated from South Africa to build a Jewish life in Dallas, they were welcomed with a simple promise: “We will make a place for you here.” That promise shaped my family’s future. My mother went on to teach at Solomon Schechter and later Levine Academy for more than 20 years, helping build not just a school, but a thriving community. I grew up at Levine, where I developed a strong sense of identity, belonging, and confidence. Some of my favorite memories include celebrating Yom Ha’atzmaut , learning about Israel, and traveling there in eighth grade with my classmates. Today, watching my own children experience those same traditions and connections brings that jour- ney full circle. Levine is much more than an excellent school. It is a place where Jewish values, culture, and community are woven into everyday life. What children learn here stays with them, shaping who they become and how they lead. As a parent, alumna, and community member, I have seen firsthand the lasting impact of a Levine education. By investing in our teachers, programs, and students, we ensure that future generations receive the same gift: a deep love of Judaism, a connection to Israel, and the confidence to thrive.

Innovation in Action: STEM AT LEVINE ACADEMY

WHY ISAS ACCREDITATION MATTERS FOR LEVINE ACADEMY

For nine years, the STEM program at Ann & Nate Levine Academy has inspired students to explore, create and innovate. Led by Dean of STEM Jackie Kirkendall and K-8 Principal Liz Lawlor , the program nurtures curiosity from Early Childhood through Middle School, helping students develop the skills and confidence to become creative problem-solvers. Early Childhood: Learning Through Discovery STEM begins with purposeful play. Guided by educator Lynne Guillot , students investigate concepts such as motion, life cycles, buoyancy, and engineering through hands-on experiences like gardening, building and experimentation. These activities foster critical thinking, early math and science skills, and a willingness to ask questions and explore new ideas. Lower School: Innovation in Action As students grow, so do their opportunities to create and discover. This year, Steven Itskovich joined Gwen Eishen on the STEM team, expanding the program’s reach. Students explore biology and sustainability in the greenhouse and Fork Farms growing lab while using the Makerspace’s 3D printers, laser cutters, and design tools to bring their ideas to life. Levine’s robotics program continues to strengthen teamwork, creativity, and technical skills. Middle School: Real-World Problem Solving Middle School STEM combines rigorous academics with hands-on

Ann & Nate Levine Academy’s accreditation by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) reflects the school’s commitment to excellence in academics, leadership, operations, and school culture. ISAS is a respected regional organization that holds independent schools to rigorous standards and recognizes institutions that demonstrate strong educational practices, sound governance, financial stability, and mission-driven learning. comprehensive self-study, submit evidence of their practices and programs, and welcome trained peer evaluators from other independent schools for a multi-day onsite review. Accreditation is granted only when a school meets or exceeds all required standards. Earning and maintaining accreditation is an extensive process. Schools undergo a “It took more than a year to prepare for our initial ISAS accreditation,” said outgoing Head of School Tom Elieff . “Only through our teams’ hard work and commitment to achieving each component were we able to reach our goal. It’s a rigorous process and a well-deserved distinction to be the only ISAS-accredited Jewish Day School in DFW.” The process does not end with accreditation. Every five years, Levine Academy completes

another in-depth review, along with interim reports and updates. This cycle encourages continuous reflection, improvement, and strategic planning. For students and families, ISAS accreditation provides confidence that Levine delivers a high-quality educational experience with strong academics, consistent expectations, and intentional social-emotional support. These elements help prepare graduates for success in competitive high schools and beyond. Just as importantly, accreditation places Levine among a respected network of schools recognized for excellence, integrity, and continuous growth. It affirms the Academy’s ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment and ensuring every student is prepared to thrive academically and personally.

application. Science teachers Megan Copulsky and Paula Helms partner with math educators like Kimberley Wilson to deliver inquiry-based learning. Students benefit from Reveal Math, ALEKS, STEMscopes, and enrichment through the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE), creating a strong foundation in STEM disciplines. Preparing Innovators for the Future Seventh-grade cornerstone projects, eighth-grade capstones, robotics competitions, and electives such as coding, CAD, podcasting, and eSports encourage students to think creatively and solve complex challenges. From bubbles and compost bins to robotics and laser cutters, STEM at Levine empowers students to turn curiosity into innovation and possibility.

Her impact is felt every day as she supports students, partners with teachers and families, and strengthens the nurturing school culture that is at the heart of Levine Academy. 4th Grade Teacher Awarded Opportunity in Israel This summer, 4th Grade Teacher Emma Duncan traveled with Talma Israel to Ben Shemen Youth Village after being selected through a highly competitive interview process to teach English in understaffed Israeli schools. For one month, she worked at a boarding school serving students ages 6–21, including “lone soldiers” in the Israeli military who do not have stable homes to return to. She also focused on helping students strengthen their conversational English skills while building meaningful connections along the way. CIJE Recognizes Levine’s STEM Leadership This summer, Dean of STEM Jackie Kirkendall served as an expert panelist at the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE) Summer STEM Conference, sharing the strategy behind Levine Academy’s success in STEM and robotics. Since helping launch Levine’s STEM initiative in 2017, Jackie has led the program’s growth through innovative curriculum, coding, robotics, and hands-on learning. Her invitation to present nationally reflects both her leadership and Levine’s strong reputation, with Levine teams placing in the top three at every CIJE national robotics competition since 2019. Levine Finance Duo Earn MBA Degrees Last year, Senior Accountant Vianey Diaz and Staff Accountant Belinda Jones earned their Master of Business Administration degrees in Accounting from Lamar University. Their achievement reflects a commitment to lifelong learning and professional excellence that strengthens our entire Levine community. We congratulate Vianey and Belinda on this important milestone and are grateful for the expertise, dedication and care they bring to Levine Academy every day.

Grandparents bring something truly special to Levine Academy. They bring heart, history and a whole lot of joy. Many of them once walked these same hallways with their own children, and now they’re back watching the next generation learn, grow, and belong in a place that feels like home. Their connection to Levine spans generations, creating a powerful sense of continuity, tradition and community. Grandparents not only cheer from the sidelines, they help make Levine stronger. Through their generosity, including support of the Grandparents’ Giving Tree , they help provide the resources needed to deliver an exceptional educational experience. Their support helps expand innovative academic programs, invest in technology and classroom resources, and strengthen campus security so every student can learn in a safe, welcoming environment. Just as importantly, grandparents bring our events to life. There’s nothing quite like seeing a grandparent beam with pride at Shabbat, a special performance, or a milestone celebration. Their excitement is contagious, and their presence makes these moments even more meaningful. Events such as Grandparents and Special Friends

Day and Mini-School Night offer a glimpse into their grandchildren’s school experience while creating lasting memories across generations. Grandparents are truly the heartbeat of our community. Their support, whether through time, financial contributions, or simply showing up, helps shape the future our students deserve. To every grandparent, thank you for the unwavering encouragement, love, and legacy you bring to Levine Academy. Your impact can be felt in every classroom, every celebration, and every student who learns, grows, and belongs here.
