Or at least the top 10? • Recommendation for Strategy: Identify policies and practices that impede transfer recruitment. • Recommendation – guarantee admission to certain programs. o Is there state money for teacher education? o Re-training those with a bachelor’s degree in another area to become teachers • Feedback – What can be done with parents with kids with disabilities? Is there a communication or marketing we can do to help these parents find us? Can we develop programs to support this? • Can we establish partnerships with companies to develop pathways to a CWU degree. o Sammamish is near amazon and Microsoft. Can we establish programs with Microsoft. o Centers working on employer-based partnerships. • Tactic – people reach out to faculty all the time with information. How can the faculty be trained to know what to do? How can we make it an easy thing so that faculty know the one thing to do. • Matching student services with capacity. Ensure that the growth doesn’t impact our level of service. Financial aid policies and practice. • Ensure that housing meets the need to grow 2000 in Ellensburg in the next 5 years. • We must have the infrastructure to support the growth and it needs to be set in advance (not through a budget allocation process). Breakout #2: DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, and OPPORTUNITY A discussion of topics/issues associated with achieving the SE Plan Goal #2: Increase the enrollment percentage of traditionally under-represented minorities (including ethnicity) (URM) undergraduate students from 21.2% in Fall 2018 to 27.5% by 2024. In order to discuss goals pertaining to Diversity, Inclusion, and Opportunity, it may be valuable to discuss possible/potential definitions of these terms. — Defining Diversity: — — Associations between/among students, faculty, and staff with the globe/global world — — Dimensions: race/ethnicity, SES, gender, sexual orientation, etc. — — Diversity — encompasses inclusion and opportunity; have to have both for diversity to be operative — Job Interview Questions: when you ask candidates questions about diversity, inclusion, and opportunity, what do you hope those candidates say? (Another way to come at the definition of these terms). — — Respect; not pre-judging; everyone is going to be a little bit different — — Respect for everyone; don’t assign/assume stereotypes — — Treat others as you would like to be treated. 1.
