Scoring for Rockland Sunday night were Paul Armstrong, Matthew Clem- ent, and Vincent Martel. Assisting on the goals were Clement, Jeff Brett, Mat- thewClifford, Patrick Lemay, and Garrett Reed. Lucas Samson warded the Rock- land net.

The season is looking very good for the Vankleek Hill Cougars in the National Capital Junior Hockey League. The Cougars shredded any chance that the Rockland Nationals had of sur- viving to the semi-finals round, after dig- ging their claws into a four-one win-loss run in the opening round of the NCJHL playoffs schedule. A 4-3 overtime, Sunday afternoon in Rockland, brought the Cougars-Nation- als faceoff to an end in Vankleek Hill’s favour. The series began with a 5-1 win for Vankleek Hill on February 18, sawRock- land roar back the following day with an 8-2 trouncing of the Cougars. Les Hawks de Hawkesbury ont subi deux défaites lors de leurs deux dernières joutes, perdant la chance d’obtenir quatre points importants. L’équipe de Hawkesbury faisait face aux Braves de Brockville le 24 février dernier au Brockville Memorial Centre. Les Braves ont vite fait de démontrer leurs habiletés, marquant à quatre reprises en début de première période. Noah Jordan, Dustin Rinaldo, Corey Caruso et Dustin Ri- naldo ont tous déjoué le gardien des Hawks Jacob Standen. Suivant les buts, celui-ci a été remplacé par son coéquipier, MatthewChan. Les Hawks n’avaient pas dit leur dernier mot, puisqu’en fin de première période, Eric Theander et Cooper Sande ont tous deux compté, le pointage devenant donc plus séré. En deuxième période, les deux équipes ont marqué, les Braves étant les premiers lorsque Colin Tonge a trouvé le derrière du filet des Hawks. Ceux-ci ont vite répliqué, avec un but de Brett Everson. C’est donc en troisième période que s’est décidée la partie. Bien que les Hawks aient marqué les premiers, lors d’un but de David Jankowski, les Braves ont scellé leur victoire, suite à deux buts de la part de Colin Tonge et Corey Caruso. «Nous avons dominé les Braves, ayant beaucoup plus de tirs au filet qu’eux, soit 53 à 29, a déclaré l’entraineur des Hawks, Rick Dorval. Mais nos gardiens nous ont laissé tomber, allouant trois buts chacun sur 28 tirs.» Deux jours plus tard, soit le 26 février, les Hawks faisaient face au redoutable Cana- dians de Carleton Place.
