IBS SPECIAL EDITION | BUILT AMERICA MAGAZINE

One that weathers storms and spans multiple generations. A legacy built on humility and inspired by John 3:30: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Lanny later goes on to share that their tagline, “Service is our business,” doesn’t stem from the colloquial term “customer service,” but rather, “What does it mean to humbly serve our customer, fight for our customer, advocate for our customer — then do it!” Built for Builders When Lanny’s father sold his shares in Builder Marts of America — a company that owned lumberyards across the country — he did so with conviction. As Lanny puts it, “He had a front- row seat to the tectonic shift happening in our industry. In the '70s and '80s, traditional lumberyards sold everything. You’d see your typical commodities and everything you needed for your home garden. He saw Home Depot and Lowe’s coming. He saw where the market was going.” So, the family carved a new path.
