The Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer should test the emergency generator and lighting and should ensure generator fuel tanks are filled. 7. The Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer will obtain additional and appropriate supplies as deemed necessary to secure the building, for example: a. Plywood b. Sandbags c. Tools d. Plastic sheeting e. Duct tape f. Rope g. Portable pumps, generators, and life rings/flotation devices if flooding is anticipated h. Raincoats/rainboots i. Sufficient first aid supplies 8. The hotel’s automobiles, vans, trucks, and/or buses should be fully fueled for immediately available transportation. 9. Secure your property. a. Collect and bring into the hotel everything not securely anchored down, including hanging or standing signs, hanging fire extinguishers, swimming pool and patio furniture, room service trays, bellman's carts, etc. b. Close all draperies to reduce glass fragments if the windows are broken. For glass areas with no drapes, consider boarding up or covering with masking tape on the inside. c. Examine storage areas of any hazardous materials on grade levels or subgrade locations for possible relocation if flooding is likely.
