CHLORINE GAS ESCAPE In case of a chlorine gas leak, there is imminent danger to health and life. 1. Immediately evacuate the entire area. Make sure there are no people in the vicinity. Go to an outside location for fresh air if possible. 2. Chlorine gas is heavier than air and displaces oxygen. Do not bend down. 3. Do not re-enter the building to assist others. 4. Notify the Front Desk to call 911 and to contact Engineering and the MOD. If it is after hours, contact the Chief Engineer and GM at home. 5. The MOD, along with the Crisis Management Team, will secure the area until emergency services arrive. 6. If possible, Engineering should shut off ventilation to the affected area to prevent cross contamination to other areas of the hotel. 7. If the entire building must be evacuated, refer to EVACUATION / LOCKDOWN / CLOSURE procedures in this manual. Follow protocol to account for all Associates and guests. 8. Do not re-enter the building until told to do so by emergency personnel, Engineering, and the GM.
