CIVIL UNREST / WORK STOPPAGE / RIOT / STRIKE Atrium Hospitality and the hotel respect the rights of individuals to express their points of view in a lawful and non-disruptive manner. To protect our guests and property, picketing, protests, and demonstrations are prohibited on hotel property. Hotel Associates will not interefere with demonstrations on adjacent properties; however, entrances and exits to and from our property must not be blocked or compromised. PREPARATION (non-threatening): • Contact and establish dialogue with spokesperson for the disturbance. • If the demonstration is against a person or group in the hotel, contact the group coordinator for "history" of other demonstrations against them. • Establish ground rules with both sides in advance so they understand the hotel will continue to operate with "business as usual." • Inform both sides that the drive-in and walk-in entrances to the property must be kept clear, and that the demonstrators must stay on public property, streets, or sidewalk areas. • Contact the local police department to ask for extra patrols during the proposed demonstration time. Determine local trespassing laws. • Notify the GM of the planned demonstration and re-emphasize to staff the GM's role as the sole media spokesperson. PREPARATION (potential threat): • All action steps above. • Contact police and ask for assistance with crowd control. • Follow reporting procedures to notify corporate management. • Contact ahemergency@atriumhospitality.com • Limit guest and Associate entrances and exits to a minimum. Assign Security or Management with radios to entrances. • Offer escorts to and from vehicles.
