DURING RIOTS OR VIOLENT DEMONSTRATIONS: • Shut down lounges and restaurants. Secure all cash and doors. • Secure cash at front desk. • Secure and protect all important hotel records. • Position Associates away from windows. • Evacuate guests from lobby area and ask them to go to their rooms. • Check and make available emergency first aid supplies.

• Have law enforcement authorities patrol the public area and hallways on room levels to evict demonstrators. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EFFECT THE EVICTION YOURSELF. Escort police to the area. • If a particular group is the target, discuss with General Counsel the option of removing the person or group. • Communicate to guests and Associates when it is safe to leave the hotel. Our first responsibility is to prevent or minimize injury to our guests, and second, to protect the hotel asset. SAMPLE NOTICE TO DEMONSTRATORS / MEDIA The Hotel respects the rights of all parties to any controversial issue to express their points of view in a lawful and non-disruptive manner. The Hotel must protect the safety and security of its Associates and guests; therefore, the Hotel uniformly prohibits picketing, protests and demonstrations on hotel property and will take all necessary legal steps, in cooperation with local law enforcement officials, to ensure that any such activities on adjacent public property do not interfere with those wishing to enter or leave the Hotel. MEDIA Contact with the media concerning the Company’s position on any matter should be made only by the Company’s authorized spokespersons. Managers and Associates who are not authorized spokespersons but who receive inquiries from the media shall refer such inquiries to the GM who will immediately notify their Vice President of Operations aware of such inquiry. The President is the only person who can designate other Associates as authorized spokespersons of the Company.
