CRIMINAL OFFENSES
GENERAL CRIME • For criminal acts witnessed and reported by guests or staff on hotel property, local law enforcement should be notified immediately. • Provide first aid and call for Emergency Medical Services as required or requested. • For criminal acts in progress, the priority is to call local law enforcement, provide first aid as necessary, and ensure that no action is taken that will result in further harm to guests or Associates. • Crime in progress: 1. Take no aggressive actions. 2. Notify law enforcement immediately or as soon as possible without making the perpetrators aware. 3. When possible, notify the GM, MOD and Security Manager. 4. If there is an armed robbery, follow guidelines under ARMED ROBBERY in this manual. • Security personnel responding to the area (keeping their own safety as a priority) should obtain as many pertinent details as possible, such as the description of the suspected perpetrators, mode of operations, license plate of any vehicles, weapons viewed or reported, etc. • Should any guests or Associates approach the area of the incident, they should be directed to a safer location. • Be aware not to disturb the scene of the crime and to retain any forensic evidence if this can be reasonably achieved. In cases of sexual assault, comfort can be provided to the victim; however, personal hygiene procedures are not advised prior to the arrival of law enforcement, in the interests of retaining forensic evidence. • Once law enforcement officers arrive on the property, cooperate fully and assist in every way possible. • Any incident involving a threat or extortion which may attract public attention must be called to the attention of AH Corporate Emergency Contacts. MEDIA Contact with the media concerning the Company’s position on any matter should be made only by the Company’s authorized spokespersons.
