HOTEL LOCK DOWN PROCEDURES A total lockdown of the hotel may be warranted in certain circumstances: • If a threat level escalates. • During riots, protests, or civil disturbances endangering our guests, hotel Associates, or hotel property. • When law enforcement authorities notify the hotel to activate a lockdown. • When a major incident occurs outside the hotel requiring secure ingress and egress to the hotel (entering or leaving). ACTIONS & COMMUNICATION 1. Call a very brief meeting for shift leaders and managers. Inform them of the situation at hand and why the hotel will activate a lockdown. 2. Assign at least two Associates to check or lock all external doors. 3. Follow the notification protocol in this manual, including AH Corporate Contacts and Franchisor if applicable. 4. Use 2-way radios or internal hotel phone system for internal hotel communications. 5. Announce the lockdown to guests and hotel Associates, advising them to stay in their rooms or work area and away from the doors and windows. Suggested announcement: “Hotel management received a security alert of an incident outside of the hotel which could affect your personal safety. We are temporarily locking the doors. Please stay in your guestroom and away from the windows. No one will be allowed to enter or leave the premises until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation.” SECONDARY COMMUNICATIONS 1. Inform car park or garage attendants, hotel Associates in a convention center or meeting facility. 2. Inform Associates coming to work. CCTV: Use / view CCTV to assess the situation outside the hotel. INCREASE PATROLS: If safe to do so, increase patrols in the hotel and ensure doors stay closed and locked. CLOSURE The following measures will be taken to evacuate and secure the hotel a decision for closure is made. 1. Evacuate all guests and non-essential Associates to pre-designated Assembly Points.
