FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES: ENGINEERING
LOCATIONS Fire Extinguisher Fire Alarm Pull Station Exit Route Assembly Point (designated meeting place)
When the alarm is activated, PBX will notify Engineering of suspected location of fire. • Get the nearest fire extinguisher and go to the problem area. • Assess the situation and notify the Fire Panel Responder whether it is a false alarm or a confirmed fire. • If determined to be a fire rather than a false alarm, assess whether it is small and contained (easily and quickly brought under control) or an out-of-control fire that the Fire Department needs to handle. • Summon the Fire Department immediately if the fire is not small, containable, and/or extinguished right away. • Assign a specific person to meet the Fire Department / First Responders on arrival and guide to location of fire. • Inform all persons involved with evacuation exactly where the fire is located. Do not send anyone to that area of the hotel. • Notify Housekeeping Management to have Room Inspectors and Room Attendants assist guests to the nearest exits in a calm and orderly manner. • Assist Housekeeping, Room Inspectors, and Room Attendants with evacuating guests if needed. Use the list of occupied rooms, going from the top floor to the ground level to confirm all rooms have been evacuated. • SHUT OFF MAIN GAS LINE into the building to prevent a gas explosion during a fire. • Monitor Fire Pump to insure it is properly functioning. Department Manager/Supervisor on duty: • Ensure all Associates are safe, and you have accounted for each Associate on duty. • Notify the MOD when all Associates are located/identified:
“Engineering to MOD.” When MOD responds, announce: “Engineering All Clear!”
Once you have left the building, do not re-enter until given an all clear. Assist with guests as needed.
