TRANSFORMER SECONDARY TERMINAL CONNECTOR DESCRIPTIONS
Ignition transformers are used to create the high voltages (gener- ally 5,000 to 10,000 volts) required to generate a spark at the end of an igniter’s electrode. CAUTION; Always disconnect the power supply before handling ignition cables to prevent possible electrical shock.
When ordering a 4085 cable it’s important to choose the connec- tion (input) plug style that matches the transformer’s secondary connection type. See bulletin 4065/4066 for additional informa- tion on North American ignition transformers.
A: #10 Ring tongue , fits over transformer terminals with #10 (.190 Ø) threaded stud. Maximum temperature 275 °F (135 °C). Use with North American ignition transformers: 4065-6N1-5B, 4065-6N1-5D, 4066-5N1-12A, 4066-5N-12B, 4066-5N4-12A, 4066-6N1-5B, C4065-6N1-6A. B: ¼ " Ring tongue , fits over transformer terminals with ¼ " threaded studs. Maximum temperature 275 °F (135 °C). Use with North American ignition transformers: 4065-6N1- 10A, 4065-6N4-10A.
C: Standard , North American transformers with a straight ¼ " Ø snap on post inside a ce- ramic insulator. Maximum temperature 275 °F (135 °C). Use with North American ignition transformers: 4065-5N1-6A, 4065-5N4-6A, 4065-6N1-6A, 4065-6N4-6A, 4065-6N4X-6A, 4065-6N7-6A, 4065-6N4XF-6A, 4066-5N1-6A, 4066-5N4-6A, 4066-6N1-6A, 4066-6N4-6A.
F: Female right-angle ¼ " blade for use with transformer terminals with flat tab size of .250 x .032. Maximum temperature 220 °F (150 °C) FS: Female straight ¼ " blade for use with transformer terminals with flat tab size of .250 x .032. Maximum temperature 220 °F (105 °C)
Transformers with an external straight ¼“ Ø snap-on terminal post, like the R130-5148 will accept any cables with a ¼“ Ø snap-on connections. The “C” type connector shown above will fit but a boot type connector that would normally be used on a spark plug like the type “W” boot will cover more of the high voltage terminal.
If the transformer post is shorter consider a Type “N” or “S” boot connector.
