JUNE 2 Glorying in Hardships "A n d not only so, but w e glory in tribu lations also; knowing that tribulation work- eth patience” (Rom. 5:3). That hard circumstance, in which you are placed, makes a new avenue of ap proach whereby Christ, in all His grace and power, may occupy your life as a lord occupies his mansion. May God grant us His grace that we may never tremble in face of life’s perplexities, but rather that we may so glory in every hard circum stance that life may bring, that Christ may pitch His tent of power about us and the dynamic of Christ be demonstrated in our surrendered lives!—From The Conquest of Life by W . M allis .* JUNE 3 Revealed Glories "Then shall w e know, if w e follow on to know the Lord” (Hosea 6:3). I have found that faith in Jesus Christ is a wonderful foundation rock upon which stands a marvelous superstructure. I have found that the Holy Ghost is not an influ ence, but, a real, living, active Person. I see wonderful truths relating to Christ in types and prophecies which I never dreamed of before, and “ the blessed hope” has a new meaning. The message of the Epistles I once thought full of hyperbole, now glows with meaning. . . . God, in His great grace and goodness, will lead us all on through the ages of eternity, beholding new glories and new graces in His Son. — H oward M. K elly . * Copyrighted, 1936, by The Bible Institute Col. portage Association of Chicago, reprinted nvith ex- Press permission. Our Great Gardener in His most beau tiful garden is daily shaping and changing us about from sunshine to shadow, from shadow to sunshine, that we may grow up to be strong and beautiful, useful and un blamable in His sight. As the True Gar dener, He has a real purpose for every life in His garden. Some may want to be liv ing always in the sunshine, whereas their lives would be far better, both for them selves and for others, to be under the shade of the Rock. In the sun they droop and fade. They cannot stand the glare, the show. They need quiet if they are to give to a needy, restless, perplexed world a mes sage of cheer, of hope, of the faithfulness of God.— A ndrew S. I mrie . "Awake, O north w ind ; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits” (Cant. 4:16).

"A n d if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto m yself; that where 1 am, there ye may be also ” (John 14:3). I could wish for my friends no greater joy than that which is mine in the thought that He is coming back, and that He may come soon. I do not think it has ever made me fanatical; I do not see how it could. This is a blessed hope to me because “ every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” (1 John 3:3). It does not mean every man that hath this hope in himself, but in Jesus as the Son of God, and in His near return. The , thought that He is coming back again keeps one pure, for how could we be worldly and indifferent if we realized that at any moment He might appear? —A. W ilbur C h apm an .
