Ardmac were engaged to carry out the fit-out of the fifth floor of 5 & 6 George’s Dock on behalf of their client Airbus. The project involved converting the floor from a CAT A to a CAT B finish, customising the space to align with the operational requirements of Airbus. The fit-out incorporated the development of various functional areas designed to support a versatile and efficient workplace. Key spaces included small, medium, and large offices and meeting rooms, an open-plan office area, a kitchenette, breakout zones, a dedicated training room, and a print/copy station. Ancillary facilities, such as a cleaners’ storeroom and a general storeroom, were also integrated to optimise functionality and storage capabilities. The works encompassed the installation of internal wall partitions and suspended ceilings, accompanied by associated tasks such as acoustic insulation and fire-stopping measures. Finishes for walls, floors, and ceilings were meticulously chosen to deliver both durability and visual appeal. Additional elements of the project included joinery, and the installation of fixtures, fittings, and equipment, ensuring the space met the client’s expectations.
The mechanical scope of works covered the installation and commissioning of systems for soils and waste, hot and cold-water services, chilled water, heating and cooling, ventilation, and controls. Comprehensive flushing, water treatment, and sterilisation processes were conducted, followed by rigorous testing and commissioning to guarantee optimal performance of all mechanical systems. The electrical services included general power and lighting installations, emergency lighting systems, and connections for HVAC. Specialist tasks included wiring for mechanical systems, voice and telephone networks, data cabling, and security installations. Extensive testing and commissioning ensured all electrical systems were fully operational and compliant with the highest industry standards.
