University of Warwick - Operations Manager (CCS)

• To ensure that financial controls and systems are robust and adhere to the University’s financial policies and procedures • To support sustainability programmes and initiatives to minimise the social and environmental impact of the University and to ensure sustainability impacts are addressed Management • To support the Finance department by ensuring effective financial management of the budgets delivery against agreed targets, identifying cost savings and cost reduction opportunities • To work with the Tender & Contracts Manager to support the procurement of products and services for cleaning, laundry, transport and the post room and to ensure the best value for money • To devise business plans for additional resources for new projects and to present these to the Director of Staff and Student Accommodation, Head of Residences and Campus Cleaning Services, and Finance Manager • To develop the profile of CCS to achieve a reputation for excellence within the University and across national higher education and hospitality sectors • To analyse departmental data against national Key Performance Indicators • To effectively manage external contracts and cleaning contractors Personnel • To lead, manage and improve a team of cleaning staff ensuring knowledge, skills and performance achieves the BICS (British Institute of Cleaning) standard; setting objectives, delivering training needs and performance management • In conjunction with HR, to lead on appraisal, promotion, discipline, absence management, staff selection and appointment • To ensure full induction and training of all staff, and retraining of existing staff as and when required • To ensure all staff comply with the relevant safe working practices, regulations and legislation This list is not exhaustive and will be reviewed periodically when adjustments may be made.
