2.1 NOTEWORTHY EXPERIENCES

Purpose is a powerful accelerator for articulating visions, outcomes and priorities in way that mobilizes stakeholders to the ‘why’ of their work. It also substantially enables building high performing boards and leadership excellence through clarity of work, vision and the change mandate. With focused intent, we work to harness that power to create engaging, personally vested and mission impactful facilitated engagements. We approach facilitation as an opportunity to create immersive experiences that embolden the purpose of the organization. We design experiences with intent and a focus on engagement. Below are highlights from recent engagements we’ve facilitated that illustrate these objectives in the facilitated experience we designed.

Strategic Plans with Non-Profit Boards

Annie E. Casey Foundation Atlanta Civic Site Vision 2020 Strategic Articulation

Currently developing the strategic articulation site for the Atlanta Civic Site that will set the stage for the foundation’s investment strategies in the City of Atlanta. Additionally, we provide leadership coaching for the Atlanta Civic Site Director through Finding Your Forte. Designed and facilitated a meeting with key stakeholders to support the development of a two-generation focused data strategy. The post- meeting deliverable included a strategic articulation map to visually depict delivery of efficient family-centered programs and services that are informed by a proficient approach to data collection, sharing and understanding. Developed a toolkit to help the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Family Centered Community Change sites develop a clear articulation of key outcomes (The Why) that align with the needs of children and the appropriate strategies and services (The How) required to achieve those outcomes.

Belk Foundation Strategic Planning The Belk Foundation Strategic Planning process: We engaged with a cross- section of stakeholders, including grantees, community/state leaders, and experts, conducted desk research and facilitated meetings with Board members to help the Foundation identify the problems to solve through their advocacy and grantmaking strategic plan.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation The Gates Foundation P-16 Landscape Scan and grantmaking process We conducted a landscape scan to define the characteristics of good P-16 efforts, identifying a set of communities with strong backbone organizations supporting good P-16 efforts, engaging with those communities to assess their readiness to receive and implement grant funding and supporting Gates’ grantmaking efforts within five communities.
