Marionville recreation Russell Township council approved two recommendations from administration for projects aimed at helping improve parks and recreation facilities in the Village of Marionville. The village is at the juncture of the borders of Russell Township, North Dundas Township and the City of Ottawa, and comes under the shared jurisdiction of all three municipalities. Russell Township council approved the transfer of $20,000 in unused 2015 capital asset funds to a reserve for the 2016 budget towards purchase of a play structure at the Séraphin-Marion Park in Marionville. Council also approved taking $14,710 of unused funds in the 2015 parks capital projects budget for the cost of installing a post and security net at the Marionville ball park during the 2015 summer period. – Gregg Chamberlain

Leadership council launched The Eastern Ontario Wardens Caucus (EOWC) and the Eastern Ontario Mayors Committee (EOMC) announced a new leadership council project at the Ontario Eastern Municipal Conference, Sept. 18, in Kingston. The project is a partnership between the two groups and the Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN) and the Ontario East Economic Development Commission (OEEDC). Focus of the project is coordinating and putting to work the Eastern Ontario Economic Development Strategy (EOEDC).
