two hours for preparation, I give one hour to prayer.—Charles G. Finney. FOURTH DAY Manifesting His Power “That ye should show forth the praises of him” (1 Pet. 2:9). Behind . every dazzling flower, and every magnificent hillside, and in all the placid beauties of the lakes, the crea tive power of God is revealed. But the creative power of God is not revealed so perfectly anywhere as In the Chris tian church . . . the church of God exhibits the matchless power of God in creation which brings life out of death . . . . No angel will ever be able to chant, “He loved me, and gave Himself for me.” We can sing that, for out of death we have found life. We show forth that creative excellency of God. —G. Campbell Morgan. If you meet with the transfigured Christ on the mount, go with Him to the valley where souls in need are awaiting your help. And there you will find that a burden and a tear for a lost soul will prove a bigger blessing than the “rapturous heights,” if such heights do not leave you with a passion to lead others up. . . . For there is no joy like the joy of leading others to Jesus. More real, spiritual, valley service will en title you to more mountaintop bless ings, while the mountaintop blessing fits you for better valley service. —Sunday School Worker. SIXTH DAY < The Supernatural in the Natural “And he must needs go through Samaria” (John 4:4). ' He miist needs go through Samaria, it lay geographically on His way to Galilee. There was no miracle in the Master’s resting at the well; He must needs rest at the well, He was weary and He wanted rest. There was no miracle in the Master’s finding the woman whom He made His disciple; He must needs find her, she was in search of water, and she came to draw, . . . The three natural needs made a supernatural result; they brought di vine life into a nation. My soul, do not refuse to see God in the events of thy FIFTH DAY Souls in Need “And it came to pass, on the next day, when they were come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him” (Lk. 9:37, R. V.).

FIRST DAY Fragrance

“The smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon” (Cant. 4:11). We are told that in Roumania there is a valley where nothing but roses ate grown, and that when they are all out the air is so densely laden with sweet perfume that it clings to the clothes and body of the traveler for days after. Jesus is the Rose of Sharon—and con tact with Him provides a continual fragrance of character. May it be that our characters will show forth the fact that we are daily walking with Him and that we have the fragrance of His' love in our hearts.—Herbert Lockyer, SECOND DAY Faithful? : “Such as I have give I thee” (Acts 3:6). Many of us dream about what we "would do if we had some outstanding gifts and abilities or what we would give if we were wealthy. This is idle speculation for the test comes in what we do have andi the use we make of it. It is vain for us to sing, “Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise” if we are not using the one tongue we do have to sing His. praise and witness for Him. God does not ask us to give what we do not have, but He does expect us to give what we do have.—Selected. THIRD DAY Need of Prayer “In every' thing by prayer and suppli cation with thanksgiving” (Phil. 4:6). It is no loss of time to pray.- Many think it chiefly or wholly lost time. I tell you that your business, if it be of such sort as ought to be done at all, will go all the better for much prayer. Get time somehow, by almost any imaginable sacrifice, sooner than forego prayer. If I am to preach with only
