KAPPA NEWS: GUY L. GRANT AWARDEE—SOLOMON C. PURYEAR

B rother Solomon Puryear is a 2014 initiate of the Lambda Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ® on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chat- tanooga. He recently graduated from the university and currently serves as digital web producer for Cox Media Group in Memphis, Tennessee. He supports the company’s digital strategies by helping drive the CMG digital product to the top of the market. In October 2016, Puryear was voted Top Man on Campus by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga student body and faculty after strongly exemplifying the university’s core values of integrity, diversity and the relentless pursuit of ex- cellence. He received a B.S. degree in Engineering Technol- ogy Management, graduating with a 3.27 GPA. Puryear is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi ® having served as Vice Polemarch of the Lambda Iota Chapter soon after his initiation. He has additionally served as Junior Province Vice Polemarch for the South Central Province. During his tenure as Junior Province Vice Polemarch, Puryear received the Undergraduate Brother of the Year and

Kappa Scholar Award for his academic achievements and involvement in the Chattanooga community. He additionally served on Kappa Alpha Psi’s ® National Membership Training Academy Committee during the 2016-17 fraternal year. Puryear’s mantra is “planting seeds of increase through pas- sion, dedication, and service.” He strives to actively engage and enrich middle and youth as a mentor in Kappa Alpha Psi’s ® Guide Right Youth Development Program. It is evident that Brother Puryear's young life epitomizes achievement and that he sees obstacles as opportunities to achieve in spite of not because of. We are thankful to Sylvester and Monica Puryear, Solomon’s parents, for God’s most precious gift to you has been a blessing to the Noble Clan of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . Let it be known that our brother exhibits the five objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and that his diamond embodies the characteristics of Founder Grant. He is a student of achieve- ment, a leader among men, and a vanguard of excellence. We salute Guy L. Grant recipient Solomon C. Puryear.
