PDT on the Move

Across the Commonwealth, the impact of the PDT was visible not in abstract statistics, but in transformed systems, empowered institutions, and thriving professionals. From the Caribbean to Africa, from Asia to the Pacific, PDT-trained engineers modernised national networks, built data centres, and introduced new services that connected rural communities to opportunity. In some countries, telecommunications ministries and regulators were led by alumni of the PDT, professionals who had returned home to apply the principles of innovation and good governance they had learned under the programme. Others became regional champions, mentoring new generations of ICT leaders and extending the Commonwealth’s influence well beyond its borders. The mobility and reach of the PDT became its hallmark. Courses were hosted in member countries, making capacity building accessible and context-specific. This model enabled peer learning, fostered South–South collaboration, and built enduring professional networks among Commonwealth practitioners. The CTO’s commitment to training “for members, by members” meant that expertise was not imported — it was cultivated within the Commonwealth family.
