Four girls met Joannie Rochette
Four girls from the Vankleek Hill Skating Club pursued their passion on the ice this summer. Sisters Gabrielle and Sarah Campbell, along with Rose Normand and Amber Abraham, trained at the Alberto-Luongo arena in Montreal. The intensive skating program, which included o!-ice classes and several on-ice sessions a day, lasted about seven weeks, two days a week. The four girls had the privilege of being invited to participate in a seminar o!ered by the St-Leonard Skating Club, on June 21. As part of this seminar, the girls had the opportunity to meet and learn from Olympic Figure Skating Bronze Medallist Joannie Rochette. Joannie Rochette demonstrated several jumps, gave personal guidance to some of our girls, and signed autographs.

NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF A DEVELOPMENT CHARGES BY-LAW TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet adopted By-Law No. 2014-74, a by-law for Development Charges, on August 25, 2014, under Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997. Purpose and Effect: Council has prepared a Development Charges study and by-law. The purpose of a development charge is to generate revenue to finance municipal services required because of growth. Development charges do not apply to accessory uses to residential uses including a garage, storage building, garden shed, swimming pool, small additions or silos or manure storage facilities. Any extensions of up to 50 % of the floor area on any existing industrial or farm building is also exempt. Development charges are also pro-rated to reduce the charge applicable to larger industrial and farm buildings. A special charge applies to the expansion of the wastewater treatment facilities in Alfred.
AVIS D’ADOPTION D’UN RÈGLEMENT SUR LES REDEVANCES D’AMÉNAGEMENT AVIS EST DONNÉ que le Conseil de la Corporation du Canton d’Alfred et Plantagenet a adopté le 25 août 2014, le Règlement sur les redevances d’aménagement No 2014-74, en vertu de l’article 12 de la Loi sur les redevances d’aménagement, 1997. But et effet: Le Conseil a préparé une étude et un Règlement sur les redevances d’aménagement. Les redevances d’aménagement ont pour but de générer des revenus adéquats pour financer le coût en immobilisations à cause de la croissance. Les redevances d’aménagement s’appliqueront à tout nouvel aménagement résidentiel et non-résidentiel dans la municipalité, mises à part certaines exceptions. Les redevances d’aménagement ne s’appliquent pas aux usages secondaires aux usages résidentiels y compris garages, immeubles destinés à l’entreposage, remises de jardin, piscines, petites additions, ni aux silos ou aux installations d’entreposage de fumier. De façon générale, les redevances d’aménagement ne sont appliquées que pour des nouvelles résidences ou pour de nouveaux édifices non-résidentiels. Tout agrandissement allant jusqu’à 50 % d’un édifice industriel ou d’un édifice de ferme est aussi exempt. Aussi, les redevances d’aménagement sont échelonnées de façon à réduire la redevance applicable aux édifices industriels ou de ferme plus grands. Une redevance d’aménagement sera imposée pour une expansion de la station d’épuration des eaux usées à Alfred.

APPEAL - The last date for filing a notice of appeal of the by-law is October 6, 2014. Any person or organization may appeal By-law 2014-74 to the Ontario Municipal Board under Section 14 of the Act by filing with the clerk of the municipality a notice of appeal setting out the objection and the reasons supporting the objection. Toute personne ou organisme public peut faire un appel contre le Règlement No 2014-74 en déposant auprès du Greffier de la municipalité un avis d’appel en vertu de l’article 14 de la Loi sur les redevances d’aménagement, 1997, en expliquant les objections qui sont faites contre le règlement, ainsi que les raisons pour ces objections.
