Central Washington University CHCI Assessment Report 12-10-13

LIGHT FIXTURES General lighting throughout the building is recessed and surface mounted linear fluorescent. Original incandescent lamps have been retrofitted with compact fluorescent lamps in most areas. Lighting controls consist of manual switches in hallways and at room entries. Exterior and site lighting is controlled via an exterior photocell and lighting contactors. Egress and Exit lighting is provided through battery backup that is integral to the egress and exit lighting fixtures. It is expected that all Exit lighting will need to be replaced and supplemented to meet applicable codes. The animal holding and exercise area lighting consists of LED high-bays and linear fluorescent. The existing LED high-bays were added within the last 2-years and it is recommended they be salvaged for reuse. The existing general building lighting system has remaining service life, but should be replaced to meet current lighting illumination standards. It is anticipated that lighting improvements would include the replacement of all existing conduit, wiring, controls and fixtures. VOICE/DATA DISTRIBUTION Telecommunications systems appear to have been upgraded in approximately year 1999. Additional data devices will need to be provided for specific rooms that change in future function or use. Additional work is anticipated for the existing Telecommunications service and distribution systems to meet current CWU campus standards, including new pathways, wiring and equipment.
