f Valentine’s Day is about showing love to the people who matter the most to you, we’ve already got a leg up. We try
now, and it’s held true throughout. We’re always amazed by the passion — and the questions — you bring to these brief lunch presentations. It goes to show that our clients are some of the most talented and invested people in the industry anywhere. Despite the pandemic, we plan to continue these talks in the future. I know many people aren’t comfortable gathering in person, and for that reason, we’re going to broadcast them remotely as well as have the option to gather safely. Don’t worry about missing out on the lunch, either; we’ll have your food delivered so you’re really a part of the whole deal! We here at Dri Tech appreciate everything you bring to the table. Clients like you make us want to do our jobs as best we can, and your thought-provoking questions and unique needs are what help drive the whole industry forward. When we find a new product or way of doing things, there’s almost always a specific client need behind it. Even if there isn’t, we’ve always got a client or two in mind who we know will stand to benefit. That’s what we’re here to do after all: benefit the client. Whether it’s a Lunch and Learn, a “Stay Dri” basket, a donation in your name, or just quality hard work and service, we want to show you the love this year, long after Valentine’s Day has passed us by.

They’re the reason we are here, and they’re also awesome people who we love to help. You may have personal experience with our unique brand of client appreciation. For example, last holiday season, we skipped the traditional gift basket full of cheese, crackers, and chocolate and instead sent a donation of a similar amount to charity — in their name, of course. Which charities, you ask? Well, we let them pick from the list at AlternativeGifts. org, a website that connects donors big and small with deserving causes. Whether it was wells for clean water in Sudan, shelter for homeless Americans, or medical care in Haiti, there was something for everyone. We got a lot of great feedback from that, and if you reached out to us, we really appreciate it. It was a resounding success that we can’t wait to build on in the future. That’s not to say that we’ll never send a basket, however. Our “Stay Dri” care kits went out to clients all over. Again, there were no crackers, but we did include hand sanitizer, water cups, and an umbrella! We’re giving those to all our clients, so if you slid under the radar, please let us know and we will send one your way. We figured a basket like that would

Waking up to a loving note from someone they care about could mean the world to them and shift their entire mood for the day. SHARE THE LOVE THIS MONTH 4 WAYS TO SUPPORT YOUR LOVED ONES THIS VALENTINE’S DAY A DAILY JOURNAL ENTRY February and March are usually when New Year’s resolutions begin to falter. To encourage yourself and your loved one, consider starting a daily journal. Leave a journal where you both have access to it and write positive messages inside for the other person. This acknowledgment of hard work is exactly what you both need to continue pursuing your goals this year. RANDOM GIFTS You don’t have to wait for a birthday, Christmas, or Valentine’s Day to give your loved one a gift. Buying small gifts lets your friend or spouse know you’ve been thinking about them. Whether it’s a treat they enjoy, a book, or even a small gift card, these thoughtful gestures are sure to make them smile.
Every Valentine’s Day, people want to find the best ways to show their partner or even a close friend how much they care. It is easy to get sucked into thinking you have to give them the most expensive or elaborate present you can find, but sometimes, the most meaningful gifts are the simplest. Here are four easy ways to show your loved ones how much you care this February. A TEXT A DAY Knowing someone has your back throughout the year, no matter how difficult things can get, is a great source of support and love. In addition to the usual communication you share with your loved one, add in a supportive text each day, whether it’s simply letting them know you’re thinking of them or wishing them luck on a presentation or interview. The best part about these texts is that they can be sent year-round. A MORNING MESSAGE BOARD Whiteboards are fun to draw on and make great calendars, but they can also be used to share heartfelt messages with your roommates or Meet Candace, Our Director of First Impressions! EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
She’s the first person you see when you walk in the door, the first voice you hear on the phone, and the smiling face that lets you know you’re at Dri Tech. We’re talking about Candace, of course, our director of first impressions and the subject of February’s employee spotlight! “I’ve worked at Dri Tech off and on since 2009,” Candace says. “But I have been here full time since 2013.” It’s the kind of job she wanted to come back to, and we sure appreciate her hard work. Whether she’s greeting clients, sending invoices, or scheduling
appointments, Candace always does a great job.
When she isn’t working, you’ll find Candace spending time with her husband. They’re both big sports enthusiasts — the LA Chargers and, of course, the Golden Knights for Candace and the Buffalo Sabres for her husband — so a hockey game is always a winning proposition! We appreciate everything Candace does here at Dri Tech, and we want to thank her for all her hard work! Stay tuned next month for the next employee spotlight!

Southern Nevada and the COVID-19 Vaccine
WHEN CAN I GET VACCINATED?
We’re now in the third month of COVID-19 vaccine distribution here in Las Vegas and the rest of southern Nevada, which means that a lot of people have already received either the Moderna or the Pfizer version of the new vaccine. That said, several others — including many readers — haven’t gotten a shot yet and are wondering how long they’ll have to wait. The good news is that there’s a very clear schedule for who gets the vaccine and when. The bad news is that most of us might have to wait for a while. This means it’s important to keep being safe while the vaccine is distributed across the region and across the country as a whole. Anybody interested in how they’re dividing up the vaccine doses should visit SouthernNevadaHealthDistrict.org and search for “COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Tiers.” There you will find the schedule that shows who gets vaccine priority. It’s no surprise that front-line health care workers, emergency responders, and nursing home residents are first in line for the vaccine. Fortunately, almost all of those people — and everyone else in Tier 1 — have been vaccinated by now. At this point, Las Vegas is moving through the Tier 2 and 3 recipients. The tiered categorization might not make sense to everybody. After all, the largest tier (Tier 4) simply says “Healthy People Aged 16–64.” We encourage you to carefully look at the lists and see if you qualify for any of the other groups. For example, if your business has been allowed to remain open (deemed “essential”), there’s a good chance you’ll qualify for a higher tier. Otherwise, we just need to trust that the people distributing the vaccine are doing so as quickly as possible and have good reasons for drawing up the lists as they did. Rest assured that your vaccine is coming, and when it does, be sure to follow all instructions — especially coming back for the second shot as your health care provider directs. That second shot is crucial, so don’t chicken out on it — nobody said it would be fun, but it is important so that you don’t get sick or get others sick.
Help is on the way with COVID-19. We just need to wait, be safe, and be patient. The second half of 2021 might look much brighter than the first!

We get to see our favorite team play our favorite game, and the lineup this year is great. Our forwards especially are the most aggressive in the league, with veterans fixing to score a point-per-game and former rookies looking to bounce back.

What’s the Deal With Valentine’s Day Cards?
This may be the first year in a long time that kids don’t pass out Valentine’s Day cards at school. Going in to the new year, the seasonal section of most stores is lined with cards featuring fun characters from superheroes to unicorns. Handing out cards is now a well-loved tradition, but have you ever wondered how Valentine’s Day became one of the biggest card-giving holidays of the year? IT’S IN THE CARDS WHY VALENTINE’S DAY IS THE ULTIMATE CARD HOLIDAY Like many holiday traditions, the convention of handing out Valentine’s Day cards goes back centuries. During the 1700s, it became fashionable to trade Valentine’s Day cards with a short poem or verse. The popularity of swapping cards only increased throughout the 1800s. Sometimes, people would go as far as to paint or draw spring-like images on the cards. They were much more elaborate than what we typically see today, though they were still usually very small. But where did those folks get the idea? People of that era were likely inspired by stories that go back even further. There are legends that the originator of this holiday tradition was Saint Valentine himself. One story says that on the night before he was set to be executed,
Valentine wrote a small letter to a jailer’s daughter. He ended the note with “Your Valentine.”
It’s unknown whether that story is true, but to 18th century Europeans and Americans, it was inspiring! So inspiring, in fact, that the entire Valentine’s Day industry began to gain traction. A guidebook called “The Young Man’s Valentine” was published in 1797 to help suitors garner the attention of their love interests through the written word. Eventually, books aimed at women were also published, including “The Lady’s Own Valentine Writer,” which served much the same goal. These publications, along with young people writing notes to one another every February, have made Valentine’s Day cards an ingrained tradition, and now people can’t get enough of them!
